This War of Mine: Final Cut - Free Update available NOW!
Dear This War of Mine Community,

our game marks its fifth year on the market this November. That’s a quite achievement and celebration we don’t want to omit. So today - as a sincere “thank you” letter to our long-time supportive community - we release the crowning version of the game called This War of Mine: Final Cut.

“We wanted to put the last touch to this phenomenon. The phenomenon, which made us who we are today as a team, equally in terms of creative fearlessness and business direction, and helped us pave our further way. Fantastic support from the gaming community was a huge part of that success, so it was without any doubt that this update must be free. We think of the Final Cut as a closing episode to the one-of-a-kind series This War of Mine has been. It will remain precious to our hearts and I don’t know what ideas the future will bring but Final Cut is final by no means. The creative minds in our studio, who were with the game up to this point, started to pursue new challenges. So we're excited about what's coming.” - says Przemyslaw Marszał, art director at 11 bit studios.

This War of Mine: Final Cut is a free content update to the Steam version of the game adding a new character, new classic scenario, and more quests and events on the locations known from Stories episode. Maps from Stories DLC packs are transferred to the original game and we’re not stopping there. Final Cut brings graphics overhaul with 4K UI adjustments, remastered versions of all the classic levels and 21:9 aspect ratio support. On top of that, those who want to hit-up the notes of nostalgia can play This War of Mine in its plain, “vanilla” version straight outta the year 2014. What’s worth mentioning is that all major bugs will be still fixed and This War of Mine will be supported by our technical and engine teams.

A detailed list of changes and additions:
Major changes and new content:
  • One new classic scenario
  • All locations from TWoM Stories added to the original game
  • New quests and Events on Stories locations
  • Remastered versions of all the classic locations
  • A brand-new character
  • Vanilla version of the game*
Minor changes and tweaks:
  • 64bit and 32bit version
  • 21:9 aspect ratio support
  • 4k UI adjustments
  • new main menu
  • additional smaller bugfixes and tweaks
To launch the Original version of This War of Mine:
  1. Right-click on the game in your Steam Library.

@Rufus_Blackwood remastered version might hurt some of us who played on old system, is it possible to tone it down later on the settings?

What exactly do the devs mean with remastered? Will the minimum spec requirement change for this game? Cause I'm playing it just a little bit above minimum spec requirements..

So the locations of the DLCs are added to the base game, but there's still a point in buying the season pass, right?

Well, thank you for the free update, just frustrating that the mods I've enjoyed for the past 2-3 years are now defunct. Even something simple as a mod that added additional music won't work and unless I disable all mods, looting in the starting house yields nothing from every pile. Least I can run the 1.0 release, kind of ♥♥♥♥ though wanted to enjoy the new content with the game I've grown accustomed to modding.

Edit - After leaving this comment and downgrading to 1.0 release, I realised that never supported mods in the first place, and none of my save data carried over. I can just play the new content without mods I agree, but I would've preferred for things not to break with an update that shouldn't really affect them.

Hi, the update is broken. No text can be shown, including the main menu. When I moused over the menu item, only the click sound was heard. In the game, no character profile is shown. No interaction bubble is shown.

My setting:

Intel Hades Canyon + 4k Samsung Monitor. AMD Adrenalin driver newest version.

Please help!

Yeah, this is kinda confusing. Is this your run of the mill free GOTY update, or just a better version of the vanilla game, still leaving you to buy DLC for the complete experience? I guess the DLC still being on sale separately gives us an idea, though.

Just started the new scenario, nice so far, the outcome could be interesting.
among the new locations, there is an interesting going on in the bakey, don't want to spoil it ^^

Hi Devs, the TWOM Universe as a whole still has so much potential.
Maybe in several years 11-bit Studios can revisit it, make another game that is in the same universe. Each character's story is interesting and you can make spin-off games from them.

Options
Like "The Sims" but in a warzone,
make an economic simulation game based on wartime economy
make traders have a permanent inventory (not randomised each time) so you can feel that all those bandages you manufacture are making a REAL impact to the community
maybe a Co Op game ?

The possibilities are there!
460hrs spent in the game. Guess another 100 with this update
