The upside is that they seem to have started revisiting and updating older expeditions over the past couple years. This could be a good sign that they figured something out, but it's going to take awhile to get there.
I mean, this is Redux season, so it's different, but usually you have 2-3 months to complete an expedition that only takes a few hours to complete.
Until then, What Hellosa mentions, or similar methods, is your only option.
Even with expeditions running non-stop people have time to complain (but not play the expedition).
It doesn't actually take a "mod"... it's a simple edit to a JSON file. All you are doing is editing the end date of the expos.
You have to play the expos offline or the file will be rewritten...
There are numerous people who play old expos regularly, I've never heard them mention broken missions... but I suppose the community missions wouldn't work... (though again, a simple file edit is all that's needed to get around such issues)

Just thought it was worth mentioning, but HG doesn't actually respond to anything here... if you want to give them feedback/suggestions, then you have to submit a ticket via zendesk.

It's pretty satisfying, I get why speedrunners do what they do now.
It's pretty straightforward. You just miss out on bases other people have built.
