Why only 8.5 % of players (according steam achievements) reached ch.2?
Like, everyone else just dont play the game or like to wander through ch.1?

True.
Cold blood, intelligence and a bit of luck are the basics of survival.

I got to the end of Chapter 1, but was stuck when looking for a code for a floor vault within the Doctor's House. I found online that there were small numbers written on the house floor. However, I don't think I would've noticed them without searching online. That was probably the case with other players too.

during the first playthrough of the game, I didn't even know that it was possible to get into the doctor's house. (I gave the key to the musician), I found the train, found the doctor and went with him to the basement. Then, during the second pass, I gave the key to the Wolf, he led me to the doctor's house and I immediately noticed the numbers on the floor, the lines between them, which indicated their order. So I don't know, getting to the doctor's house is not important to the plot, why do people have problems getting to the second chapter? Maybe it's just me?:derp:

Achievements are a weird thing on steam. If you look at DW's ach percent only 12% of buyers actually killed the pig. Killing the pig is not a hard task, you'd think if people bought this game and showed interest they'd play it at least to that point. But its even worse in other games, for example I got company of heros 2 and they have basic co-op challenges where you beat a map with a friend. And most if not all of them are around 3-6%. These are very easy goals you get them just casually playing. And yet everyone I get is 3%. Other games, with niche but extremely loyal fans, like sonic the hedgehog. Well some of their hardest achs on some games go past 40-50%. Which is odd sonic is hard as hell imo to perfect or get anywhere near completion.

So its really the hardcores vs the casual, and I see many horror games with low ach percents. So horror fans are, I guess casual? Or I'm thinking more in the line of collectors. Collectors of horror often time stockpile thousands of dvds, then when they feel up for it they will pop in a nostalgic classic. This is how I'm thinking horror gamers are. That they collect games to come back to them. I have actually been like this myself over a few horror games, had silent hill 2 on xbox for years but only unlocked 1 ending. Had haunting ground a long time too but only casually played it. Same with some games on steam, got deadly premonition and I think its an awesome game so far. But I just put it on hold for a while. Of course my theory doesn't really add up when you look at how old DW is now. You'd think near 10 years later someone would beat it. I don't even really get the quitting at chapter 2 thing cause if you fought that hard through all that... Wouldn't you wanna see where it went?

I guess its just the collector mindset, vs other games where its like a fix. Those sonic fans are I'm telling ya crazy about sonic. I loved sonic 2 and 3 was ok, but I haven't played a good one since mania but I still get some sonic games and I gotta give it to their fan base they finish their plates and beat some goals I wouldn't even mess with. Even as a sonic fan since genesis.

For example I'm looking at my hardest sonic mania ach and its collect all chaos emeralds. It has around 14% which is a huge number for an unnecessary to beat it challenge like this. That's not even in the gold shiny range.

I think a LOT of people quit before they reach chapter 2.

This is not a game for casual gamers who like their hand hold while doing everything, with fancy objective markers, endless suplies and op skills. This game is actually pretty hardcore, Ive personally finished it 3 or 4 times and Im considering another playthrough soon and I know pretty much all there is to it but it can be brutal for new players.

You need to learn, adapt, push through the initial hardship and then you will experience one of the best games you ever played.

I played quite a bit in early access, and at some point I played the prologue and got the achievement, and then later I played through the whole game but the achievements weren't working. So maybe a higher percentage played further but didn't get the achievements.

This happens quite a bit.

Because most gamers nowadays are casual ADHD zoomers who are not skilled or patient enough to play games like this.

There's a lot of game before reaching Chapter 2 though. I originally played with limited lives and stopped playing at some point in Old Woods because it became too stressful lol. I just wanted death to have some consequences.

The neat thing about horror games (like most games) is that you don't have to "beat" them to enjoy the game.

Sometimes just experiencing them once is enough.
