Island Creator Release Notes
From Version 2.00 and onwards, the Island Creator is a passion project that I'm just updating in my spare time. It doesn't mean anything for the main game. After Worlds Adrift was sunset, there was always a desire, internally at Bossa, to allow people to be able to visit and admire the creations that were lovingly crafted by the community for the game. So preservation of this tool is just my way of furthering that. So if you want to remember, pay tribute or even just enjoy the act of creation, this will always be here, and will always be free.

Bug fixes
  • Glider fixed on male character

The Engine Update
  • Updated core engine to Unity 2019 - over 4 years of engine upgrades in 1 patch
  • New renderer, things should look nicer in general
  • Vastly improved post processing
  • Cloth for hair and clothes is visually much more realistic
  • Completely re-written audio system (this might not always sound better but was necessary due to licensing restrictions and our use of a third party plugin WWISE in the original version)
Other Features
  • A new Island Gallery view, that lets you load assets straight from the workshop without subscribing. Great for newcomers and people just wanting to see whats possible. This also includes a 'hall of fame' which contains the islands in the world at the end of Worlds Adrift.
  • Removed the concept of Culture and biome. Now all assets are available on all islands.
  • There is now an option (in "Sound & System" settings) to remove complexity limiting... Use at your own risk, you could get some serious slow down at best, and a crash at worst. Save often!
  • Character customiastion. Now pressing TAB during play mode will let you set your cosmetics, hair colours etc. for characters and they are saved on your machine between sessions
  • The tools from the main game have been ported across glider, stasis pack, inertia pack, atlas boot, hip lamp and head torch are all available to use in the Player Setup window (Tab during play mode)
  • And just for fun, I put a Quadcopter mode in because... well I like flying quads and these environments are utterly awesome to fly around ;)

The Kioki Update
  • 400+ new assets for the new Kioki Culture.
  • 100+ new glyphs for Kioki Murals.
  • Asset Texture/Material picker for Kioki Assets.
  • Magnet feature to allow for easier alignment of building blocks.
  • Culture / Biome Selection for new islands.
  • Auto painting now creates a nice texture for your island depending on the chosen biome.
  • New multi-coloured murals with layers.

Gameplay Phase 1!
  • Various Turret types added to gameplay objects folder.
  • Unclimbable surfaces available that cannot be climbed on or grappled.
  • Friction (Barb wire, thorns) and impact damage (spikes) assets added to hurtable objects folder.
  • Folder of inactive turrets to place to create confusing situations for the player :)
  • Character in Play Mode is now your Worlds Adrift character if you have one.
  • Diagram view to show turret ranges.

  • Custom Groups and Material sets are now shareable via the Steam Workshop.
  • Complete overhaul of Steam Workshop Window.
  • Materials now feature auto fill options, you can customize fill settings per layer and paint the whole island in a single click.
  • Dynamic Grass can be enabled to generate grass blades procedurally anywhere that layer is painted. Options for thickness, softness and height variation can create long hay fields or lush meadows equally well.
  • Spectator camera option for smoother screen recording to show off your creations in style.
  • Temperature slider to preview how your island might look in different biomes in the main game.
  • Character now selects clothing from the starter items in the main game and randomizes the colours to match.
  • The standard array of bug fixes and optimizations.
  • New cliff assets.
  • Updated grass assets.

Lighting!
  • Now you can preview the baked indirect lighting in your island. Use the island tab to start baking.
  • Also bake subscribed steam workshop islands for more atmospheric exploring :)
  • Specular Shininess on objects is now more accurate and better looking.

  • Bunch of new metal assets added.

Gameplay objects
  • Murals with editable pictograms and glyphs to create your own stories.
  • Loot ruins and containers to populate your islands with collectibles in the main game.
  • High value chests to create focal points and reward players for exploring your island.
  • Databanks which reward knowledge in the main game.
New Assets
  • More Saborian blocks, walls, windows, door frames, broken walls etc.
  • New set of metal ruins including pipes, platforms and more metal junk.
  • Decorative statues, lights (working and broken) and more ornamental pieces.

New Character Controller
  • New rappelling functionality, new grapple boost move, improved general grappling and falling physics.
  • Player now slip down unsafe surfaces.
  • Some clothing variety.
  • Player's position can now be reset to the initially clicked spot with the 'R' key.
General Improvements
  • Painting tool made more responsive and the fill bucket with min and max angles now has better blending.
  • Scrolling lists made much more responsive with lots of items.
  • Fonts in certain UI areas tidied up and made neater.
  • Auto pressure sensitivity for stylus.
  • New foliage lighting.
  • Planar handles added to movement gizmo.

  • Snap rotation when rotating on a single axis hold Control.
  • On screen prompts for various actions (duplicate, ground selection not hitting, etc).
  • Warning message about the surface material when loading an old format island.
