As for getting stuff, it's average in that front. It is a mobile gacha game, after all, and your luck and/or the size of your wallet will be a factor on what premium characters and weapons you can get. YET, most of the game is perfectly serviceable as a f2p, and the devs sometimes can drop some gifts in the form of premium characters or weapons.
Related to the previous answer, as I said, it's decently serviceable as a f2p, so long as you do your homework with it. The faster you learn the ropes, the faster you can get into the grind treadmill.
The game is presented in chapters, and while you can finish all chapters, the devs are yet to post an actual ending. This is par for the course for live service games, where you beat a big bad, but another starts showing up by the corner.
For the last one, I don't play with numbers. The next poster may be able to answer that.
2. if you pay for the monthly crystal pass + complete daily quest everyday + event activities
you can roughly earn enough to roll for a new limited character every event.
3. no, one thing in this game is that the SR character are perfectly functional in almost any modes in the game, as long as you are not playing with 1 leg, you will go through main story and events easily.
4. i don't think any live service game has an end, except for end of service.
