Resident Evil 4 HD Won't Launch at All
I just purchased a lenovo y50, and Resident Evil 4 is the first game I tried to download and play, unfortunately, the game won't load up. The game starts to boot, then just leaves me on the desktop. Anybody else encounter this problem?

Try deleting the contents of the documents/my games/capcom/RE4 folder and then try starting it.

Try running it with any anti-virus software disabled

Try running the game and/or Steam as administrator.

I think the consistant in-game crashes (when the game actually boots) are due to some firewall issue. If you turn off your firewall you should be fine.

Have you tried disabling anti virus?

Same issues, nothing works, Capcom support hasn't replied, rip.

Also the last thread titled "Capcom refuses to fix this game" has been deleted and I have no idea why, it was current.

Because some moderator or capcom got butthurt(probably moderator).
There wasn't any smack talk(well besides some immature 10yr old PC elitist) and people want answers. Censorship at its finest... the game works for most and thats probably how it will remain in the future.

It's a laptop right ? With onboard intel and a descrete nvidia gpu ? Make sure the game is using the nvidia one also make sure game optimizations are checked in geforce experience .

i'm running these specs:

Intel Core i7-4700HQ @ 2.4 GHz
GeForce GTX 860M
16 GB RAM.

Now, for whatever reason, GeForce Experience won't recognize Resident Evil 4. I also own Resident Evil 6, and it does recognize that.

Assuming you're using windows 8.1 64bit like me ... navigate to documents/my games/capcom/RE4/config...open that up in note pad and make sure the line that reads "adapter" has a 0 not a 1 , save then try to launch.

Thank you for the tip, but unfortunately it didn't work. "Adapter" was actually set to 0 by default. This really stinks, RE4 is so much better than the newer ones.
UPDATE when I updated drivers for nvidia graphics card it worked (I didn't try this earlier cuz I though updates were automatic

Tried obvious stuff, still hasn't worked.
ASUS ROG G751JY-DH71
Windows 8.1
Intel I7-4710HQ 2.5gh
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M Graphics
25 GB ram
