A soulless watered down remake that doesn't live up to the essence of the original game.

Still boggles my mind on how the devs were able to mess up and censor most of the zombie's mechanics and gore, which are arguably the most integral part of a game... a sandbox game that takes place in a ZOMBIE-infested mall, but whatever. Even the difficulty has been toned down significantly which makes the game feel too easy and ultimately less enjoyable.

On a better note, I personally don't mind the new VA cast. Frank's new VA ultimately grew on me, along with the talented performances behind the psychopaths and main characters, so I have no complaints in that department.

Overall, get this remake on sale for $20 or less. OR, better yet, play the original game where the devs actually cared about what they were presenting towards their audience. This remake needed wayyyy more time in the oven, but I think its too late for it now either way.

Capcom made an underpolished and overcensored waste of time and money. This is actually worse than the original in almost every way. The lighting and shadows are way too realistic, although the texture quality is of course looking good. Some areas do look nice and vibrant. After seeing a certain video, it's apparent the quality and soul of the original are in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for this "deluxe remaster".

I was actually having some fun until i kept getting crash after crash when returning to the safehouse after rescuing a certain psycho from wonderland later in the game. I definitely did not enjoy or care for any QOL changes and some of them are honestly distasteful, like autosaves and how easy it is to level up (actually the game is way easier now). I'm already at level 40, that's insane! You could barely get to 50 even after overtime form the original, if I'm not mistaken. "And yet he complained his belly was full". Why couldn't crapcom just wait longer, why do they have to keep taking dumps on this franchise. Also denuvo for this game... I can't... I can't anymore, it's such a scummy tool. And with the censorship, it means most people are going to have less fun than they did before. Who is capcom trying to appease, why are there politics in these games? It's so unnecessary.

It's still an enjoyable game with fun to be had, but do not support this regressive hogwash at full price like so many of us already have. Absolutely wait until it's on sale. I'd say it's worth the same $10 or even less as the original is priced. Shame on you executives.

Game uses AI Upscaling, censorship that wasnt needed, cheesey voice acting, devs got lazy with details and immersion. The only thing good about this game is the fact that you can move while aiming in.

Original is better in every single way

This game is for babies. Seriously, they made the boss fights easy, they spell everything out for you, the censored whatever they wanted for no reason, you can level up way to quick. The blood and gore was toned down. Let me repeat that. The BLOOD AND GORE IN A ZOMBIE GAME HAS BEEN TONED DOWN. Voice acting is goofy. Maybe you can get used to it, idk.
The old game is 10 dollars and it's still a great game. Just get that.

Just made me wish I was playing the original

So, well, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster feels like a rush job, and is clearly unfinished. It lacks so much attention to detail, and a lot of it feels like a half-hearted attempt at AI upscaling so instead of a genuine enhancement, we’re dealing with gibberish writing and jarring inconsistencies that detract from the overall experience.

The gore is toned down, the zombies on screen, seems considerably lower than the original, I can't say I really care about the so called censorship changes, but it's really daft nonetheless, none of it was needed. Voice acting is pretty average too, with some being outright awful like Brad. Game is way easier than the original, which again, feels like a daft change considering that the difficulty was a draw of the original game.

Look, I love the original Dead Rising, it was the main reason I bought an Xbox 360 back in the day, so maybe I'm being too harsh, but this just feels so soulless. Thankfully, Capcom hasn't removed the original from sale (yet) so at least you can pick that up instead.

Thumbs down out of respect for the OG's attention to detail that is completely missing from this.
