Achievements not registering

As title says. I've done a full playthrough*, yet none of the achievements have activated.

I wonder if this is a technical issue or if I was supposed to do something in particular.

*On which note, this VN is unexpectedly good. It is one of only three VN's I can honestly say I've enjoyed without immense regret. I'll say more in an actual review if I can get around to it; at the very least, know that if more VN's were like this one, I might begin to gradually open up to VN's in general.

I have to admit, the game itself is a worthwhile playthrough in and of itself. I'd still be grateful for the chance to get Steam achievements to commemorate repeat/alternate playthroughs; hence this post.

Think you need one of the DLCs to get achievements.
IIRC the original game did not have achievements.

Huh. I see. No wonder this game was free.

Shrewd, OVERDRIVE and Mangagamer; very shrewd. In the unlikely event any of your marketing staff are reading this, you get my earnest commendations. I'll make a note of this for if I ever have a vanilla game and DLC to market.

Seems the trading cards are also locked. At least, I ran it for six hours, and I did not see anything. No complaints, but wanted to let everyone know, before they looked for them.

*In order to unlock achievements, you will need the 2016 version DLC.

I understand why they did this, but it would have been nice if they were honest and up front about it so people wouldn't wonder why the achievements aren't popping.

EDIT: I just checked and there is a footnote in the bottom of the game description. Guess I need to read the free game descriptions all the way through. Thankfully this isn't a trend with free games up to this point.
