I've gone through and given Ryou his tongue back (in the infirmary). I went to the entrance and got the next instructions from the doll, talking about where the floor healed + "one step rooster, ten paces rat."

The walk-throughs I've seen say that it's talking about the healed floor within the stairwell, so I went to that spot, took a step west, then ten steps north, entering the second floor. There should be a winder for the pulley beneath the floorboards in that area, which will unlock the pool area for the second tongue?

I've redone the doll's instructions several times. I even took steps to the east to compensate for being redirected to the center of the doorway, when entering the second floor. I have scoured the area several times, checked other areas, and loaded old saves to see if I could find it before giving Ryou's tongue back. No matter what, I have not been able to find it at all, and I literally cannot progress in the game.
