Some feedback from a seasoned mecha gamer (updated 24 OCT 24)
So. I finally picked this up and sat down to play the tutorial while I was waiting for my hair to dry after the shower. It's now three hours later, I'm halfway through the first page of campaign missions, and I just realized it's way past when I should have been in bed.

So, you've got something pretty great here. I've got some general feedback about a little more polish.

  1. Hit registration, especially of bug melee attacks, was atrocious. Or at least it was for me. There's no visible or audible cue (that I noticed at least; i did verify local files after my first mission to see if maybe it installed wrong) that you are being attacked and taking damage aside from your health number going down. I found myself regularly going from 75% or better to 30% or lower without any other feedback aside from the color of the health indicator suddenly going to yellow and then red. - Okay, so this was apparently an audio issue for me. I had a mission glitch out and the music didn't play, and i could actually hear the hits. I played around with my audio settings outside the game, and managed to bring the effects noise back up a bit.

Bug melee attacks are still super subtle without much warning, aside from the berzerkers charging you.

  2. The default/provided weapons of each GB should be listed somewhere, even if it's just a line of text in their description. It would help with selection especially for new players. Ideally I'd like to see it be a visible item in the Loadout screen with stats but I can understand that may be a bit more difficult. Maybe in the model viewer?

If the melee weapons are different in more than just their attack animation, that would also be nice to know. It feels like some of them h it harder, but that could just be enemies that have taken damage.

  3. An audio cue when you load the last of your reserve ammo would be appreciated by many, I'm sure.

Thanks for taking the time to write this down. It's always good to have such thoughtful feedback. I don't think that I will be making any bigger changes to the game, but i will definitely keep this in mind for future projects.
