Runes of Aereal

Runes of Aereal

Demo feedback
Played two journeys, one on Easy (victory) and one on Medium (died on first island):

Bugs:
1) The demo says it allows you to play 3 journeys, but each game is decrementing the counter by 2, so after you second game, you have -1 journeys remaining and can't play a third.
2) After finding one of the Runes of Aereal, the screen that is supposed to show all of the runes I have collected instead shows a different rune as having been collected. (Example, the reward screen says I found Rune A, but the menu says I have Rune F). This occurred with all 9 runes in my Easy playthrough.

Gameplay feedback:
1) Easy mode is too easy, and not because of the benefits given at the game start, but because the drop rate for the runes is extremely high. I found all 9 runes without completing the first island or even getting to every location on it. It's also pretty anti-climatic when it just ends after finding the 9th rune - no boss fight or anything?

2) I'm allowed to return to previously visited locations on the map, and sometimes they have new events, but why can't I enter towns a second time? I would suggest changing towns so that you can always return to them, and they always have a shop and crafting location you can visit and revisit - move them off the map nodes and just make them their own thing in the city, or move crafting to just be in the menu at any time.

3) Crafting just doesn't seem useful at all, but maybe because neither of my playthroughs lasted long enough to get the opportunity to use it. The restrictions on it are too high, because you need to have the book, 3 different ingredients, a high enough crating skill and you have to have all of those before you get lucky enough to find a crafting opportunity in a town. It might be better if you could just craft from the menu at any time. Maybe consider reducing the total number of ingredients and allowing recipes to share ingredients?

4) Tool tips were displayed inconsistently and could use a shorter delay.

5) It would be great to speed up some of the gameplay with a few changes:
a) Let me play another card in combat without waiting for the animation of the previous one to finish
b) If I return to a location and it now only has the "continue" option, just stay on the map. don't load another screen and make me click continue.
c) When I go to a location, such as in a town, that says I can Heal X, just let me click the Heal X button and go back to the map. It's not necessary to then go to another screen to see the number go up by 3.

6) Is there any benefit to taking one of the Collectible cards as loot, or that just for achievement hunters? Maybe they could give a static bonus for the rest of that run?

7) Consider reducing some of the card types, or allowing cards to have more than one type. I got screwed on my Medium run when I decided to take 2 Dagger cards (Do 6 damage for each Skill card in hand) at the start, only to find out that my starting deck had zero skill cards. I was thinking along the terms of Slay the Spire which just has 3 card types, Attack, Skill and Power, while you seem to have multiple types of cards which all benefit from the attack skill, but are not all attack cards, and skill cards seemed to be very rare.

Sorry, that was a lot of rambling.

I was also surprised by this - most of the visited nodes are mostly nothing, sometimes events, but most often fights. I started on Medium and got brutalized before trying easy and it was over very quickly.

Revisiting towns would be helpful. In my first game I didnt know what I was doing, clicked everywhere, and accidentally skipped one of the options.

The demo is definitely worth downloading and trying. But as mentioned earlier:

1) Play it on easy. Otherwise you get murdered.
2) Expect a short game on easy and a disappointing death on medium.

There are many positives about this game: The character creation is really really good - all options are available to a single character through player skill and effort.

Thank you kindly for the feedback guys, I'm polishing quite some things regarding your feedback out of the game before release
