This game is too buggy to ever work. The old game is more stable and much better.

Many people have argued that the old implementation of the board game was fine and this one was a cash grab. For me personally it is fine, because I never owned all the DLCs for the original one, which I only played occasionally. If it wasn't for this new release, I might never have realized how addictive the game is.

The rules seem simple and very reliant on luck at first, but the more you play, the more you learn how to strategically choose your tickets and how to prioritize routes in order to reach your goals before your opponents throw a spanner in your plans. It's a classic "easy to learn, hard to master" game and a perfect cozy game to play while watching something or just to relax after a long day.

The player base is solid because of cross-platform play, so it hardly ever takes more than 3 minutes to fill a lobby. In addition to that, the slight variations of the rules that all maps bring to the table keep it challenging, because every map needs to be played a bit differently.

Yes, the old game was charming, but once you get used to the new look, this one is very nice, too. The soundtrack is mostly great (apart from the terrible Switzerland theme). The UI could be a bit more intuitive, and I really don't care for the different wagon models and colors that can be bought by micro-transactions, some of which make the board less readable.

My most important critique is that the game is still very buggy more than a year after its release. That is to say, every other match you get a harmless display bug or need to reconnect in order to take your turn, and occasionally the game crashes right before the end results screen and you never get to see the scoreboard. The developers are very active on Discord and doing their best to fix the issues, but one could raise the question if the game's release was rushed by the publisher.

I personally got my money's worth from this game and the round-the-world ticket, but if you're not a hardcore fan of the board game, you might want to wait until the game is less buggy.

Classic game. You can play forever if you buy DLC.
