So I open up the game, and the valve logo appears. after a few seconds, the game crashes. I want to play it, but it won't work. Does anyone know a easy fix?

I know I'm not the only one with this problem but when ever I try to open this game it gets past all the logos and whatnot, but before getting to the title screen it just crashes :/ Does anyone know of a way to fix this or if there is somewhere else you can get a versio of this that will work like its ment to?? Plz help :/...

Everything else works for me. It will load the Valve loading screen with the man and a valve in his head, then the rest of the sponsor screens, then I crash immediately to desktop with no window describing what happened. Nothing out of the ordinary is showing up in my event viewer pointing to anything game related. Any ideas? Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.4ghz/6GB DDR2/7870GHZ 2GB 1100/1300 core/mem, and the game in on a fast, reliable working SSD drive. Thanks for any help!...
