Pick a car and track that you like.

Drive on that track with that car until you can drive without leaving the track. Don't worry about time. 2-3 hrs or so.

Then once you can do that start going faster until you can consistently hit the same lap time. Do this for another 2-3 hrs.

Once you find yourself hitting consistent lap times add in AI for practice. Don't worry about racing them. Just having them on the track will help you while also throwing another set of problems at you. Do this for 5 hrs.

Lastly, set up a race with AI and find a reasonable level of AI to race against. Do this until you get better and then up the AI as required.

Wash rinse and repeat all steps for different car/track combos.


Also: learn weight distribution, tunning on your off time.

Lastly: put 500 hrs into racing to just get decent and run against human drivers without being stupid and messing up other people's races.

That's about it!

Dude your trying to use a racing simulator using a keyboard, of course your crap. A proper wheel and pedal setup is needed.

All these replies are very good answers. It takes a lot of practice to get good. Just like real racing, it's not a casual thing unless you're some kind of alien . And some would argue that you can do it well with a controller or keyboard. I disagree, I think you need a wheel and pedals. But that's up to you...

Hi. My suggestion to you is that you need to save up $150 and buy a racing wheel setup. What you want is one that comes with the steering wheel, 3 pedals(clutch/brake/gas), and H-pattern-shifter. This will dramatically improve you play. The least expensive way to go is: PXN-9 - you can get a open box set from Microcenter for just over $100! It won't have force-feedback, but I personally use the PXN-10, an entry level system with force-feedback. Send me friend request - I'll be glad to drive with you!

That's a lot of money so mebe in about 2 years or somthin...
