Gameplay

• A simple twin-stick shooter roguelike which everything dies in one shot, including you.
  
• Positioning and reflex are the keys to success. Aim true, and you might survive the onslaught of crows.
  
• Fair enemy density and variety keep you on your toes, your trigger finger itchy.
  
• Complete tasks to unlock various guns, abilities, and trinkets. They are not difficult and you can complete them just by playing the game long enough.
  
• Curses are fun to add to the run. Their double-edged nature can be used to your advantage if you know how to play around them.
  
• It offers a decent amount of content for such a low price.

Minor Complaints

• Difficulty could use some small changes. Instead of enemy intensity increases before X number, it should just last the whole run.

Kill the Crows is an intense western-themed, top-down arena shooter. Runs are fast and furious with one-hit kills for both the player and the enemies (including bosses).¹ The entire game is set in a single ruined town where swarms of enemies rush towards Isabella, our bloodthirsty gunslinger, on her mission of vengeance. Kill the Crows is a skill-based game, and as such it may not be for everyone.

Fortunately, Kill the Crows never feels overly frustrating when a run ends and restarts are very quick. A player can swiftly change out their gear loadouts (and level modifiers) and can get right back into the action within seconds! Despite the single environment and a handful of enemy types, the team behind the game did such a wonderful job that it doesn't ever feel too repetitive. The pixel art is good and enemy types are easily distinguishable from one another so that priority threats like sharpshooters can be quickly identified and taken down. Shootouts are fierce and impactful as enemies are thrown back by one deliberate bullet after another from Isabella's revolver and amplified by superb use of audio. The various showdowns are ever eye-catching as our cowgirl heroine mows down waves of enemies by fanning her revolver in a deadly display of unadulterated marksmanship -- it's a downright joy to witness. :)

In addition, the developer/publisher team have been very receptive to player comments and have worked diligently to squash any bugs that players have encountered. As such, Kill the Crows runs very smoothly and is practically bug-free. At the time of this review, the issue with The Crimson Moon Rising achievement has been recently resolved so achievement hunters are now able to acquire all the achievements for the game.

For the price of a small meal, Kill the Crows is a thoroughly enjoyable arena shooter. It's a game I'm sure to revisit again and again. Easily recommended! Give it a try! Thank you for the privilege of your time in reading my review. Cheers!

Kill The Crows is AWESOME

This game is basically If "AKANE" and "Red Dead Redemption" had a baby.

I loved the cyberpunk samurai action in Akane and wished there were more games in that genre and finally we got it.
Just like Akane, the games are very short and simple but require skill and patience because you die in 1 hit.

The newest update that just came out, added the curse challenges which are great!
Yes some of them are unfair and gimmicky, but others increase enemy numbers and add friendly fire which makes combat exhilarating and speeds up progress.


Good game!

Highly addicting and CHEAP top-down wave survival shooter. High enough build variety to have multiple play styles work. Only thing i wish they had was more maps to play on.

A review here said: give it time, play in short rounds, keep coming back to it.
You will have the satisfaction of gradually getting better at it and it being more fun.
I like the game - it can be played in short rounds; but you need to be careful not to overplay it as it might start to be annoying. Just give it space. I'd say it's a fairly well baked product.
Devs like this deserve more! thank you for such a cool game. CAH!

love the sound effects

Very fun and addictive game. Sadly I unlocked everything and got every achievement so quickly. It is worth it the price but i would like to see some new content especially some new curses to customize the experience. Like the artifact system in Risk of Rains 2.

Edit: I would like to add that I got so immersed in the game (I would literally forget to blink for like 10 minutes when I was playing it). and most people wont get every achievement this fast, one of them only 0.1 percent of the players got it.

Quick and fun, lot of build variety. worth the price!
