Not Playable with Radeon Cards?
I have a Radeon VII and it just crashes constantly, within minutes of loading. Even with the graphics at the lowest possible setting. From a quick Google it looks like lots of Radeon cards don't work? Is there anything we can do? Unfortunately I tabbed out for dinner after the intro so I can't get a refund.

This is with an i7 9700K, Radeon VII, and 64GB of RAM. Running Windows 10.

I should add I really liked the first one, so it's disappointing that this one doesn't run.

I dont know what to tell you, on my xfx6900xt this games runs at 115fps, using high-ultra mixed settings at 2k resolution with HDR.
this has been one of the only games I can think of that has run well ever since I built this system, and I am shocked. if anything, this is the ONLY game that has performed well in the past 2 years for me--without causing constant BSODs or shader stutter like many other modern titles.

look to see if your card has any firmware updates. not driver updates, but actually flash the bios of your card if possible. do the same for your mobo. consider using windows 11 too

Probably driver related. On newer ADM GPUs (RX 6000 and 7000) this should run flawlessly for the most part, but there was a specific driver release very shortlly after release that improved performance and stability (24.3.1 version). Do you use that already? Vega should still be supproted I think.

I can just say that I have tried and played many games with my RX 7900XT and I have had literally zero issues since 10 months now. Generally on the forums here several threads report issues with Nvidia GPUs, but problems with AMD GPUs are rare. Vega is a little bit exotic, though. I think in theory it should have roughly the performance of a RX 6600XT or RTX 3060, so 40-60 FPS at least at very high settings at 1080P, but it might be that it is too "special". If you have the newest drivers already things will become difficult. What is the actual crash specifically? Any error messages? Does the game actually start or do you mean "crashing during shader compilation" without entering the game?

if its crashing on shader compile then use ddu to reinstall drivers then in amd radeon settings click "clear shader cache"

Yes, that would be my suggestion also then, besides checking if the crash is related to the GPU at all :).
idk if this port had Physic X... but if it does.. make sure it's disabled.
Another thing AMD cards tend to hate is Parallax Occlusion so make sure that's disabled too. Other than those two things... idk.

Oh AMD cards also hate Nvidia's Hair gimick thing... I forgot what it was called...
Hair tenelilation or something....

(Though, it's kinda weird that both Xbox and PS are powered by AMD... but are having problems running on a AMD system.... are u sure it's Video Card related?)

RX6700 - running great
RX6600 - running great
RX5500XT - no problems on medium settings
RX570 - playable on lower settings
RX560 - around 30fps on lowest settings with frame drops on populated area

I would say this is very playable on AMD cards ;-p

Thanks for the replies. Good to know it can work. I'll try your suggestions and see if I can get it working.

It's a Radeon VII specific issue. I have a few friends with this card, and nodoby can play this game.
I beat this game with a Radeon 7900 XTX on a i9-12900KS.

There were lots of crashes, but that was in large in-part because my CPU & Memory overclock was not stable, a couple times there was some bad Adrenalin driver updates, like that June 2024 update made the card run hotter with the default fan profile.
Overrall once I got my CPU & Memory stable, the random crashing stopped.

technically the Radeon VII isn't supported with Sony specifying only RDNA cards and the Vega cards like the Radeon VII were dropped quickly so unsurprising that these cards are running into issues now
Same here it runs well on a 6650XT. My current bottleneck is my R5 5500
