Legends is NGE (wow-like)
SWGEmu is PRE-CU (sandbox)

Oh I get you, tbh I still didnt mind NGE so much I liked beeing an artisan in that game and just you know go the sims on it ;p The only bad thing was that people stopped playing ;p
My fav part was flying tho, still no flying I take it ?

Legends has flying

SWGEMU announced recently that they will NOT be working on the flying portion of the game. I believe they will be finishing the ground only and let patches through future updates be implemented, so maybe there's still a chance after they've finished.

SWGLegends has flying and it feels like there's definitely a lot more people running around too.

I'll be seeing you in a galaxy far far away!

I been with SWGEmu from the start. I joined SWG Legends only around a year ago and recently started really getting in to it. I don't really care for the way they run the bingo over at SWGEmu. You shouldn't have to feel like your walking on egg shells when visiting the forums and it's been pretty bad about that for a while now which is why I don't contribute on them much any more. I been enjoying my time a lot more recently over at SWG Legends. I have just had a way more relaxed experience with my time there.

In terms of both projects. I play both and like both, but if your looking for only one here are some realities you people need to face.

SWGEmu has been an on going project for at least a good 15 years now or better. They really have not progressed at a decent rate of speed. When people ask questions about it and/or call them out on the forums for it more often then not they are met with rude comments back from the staff and they get butt hurt and defensive about it. That's not counting the ass kiss club that joins in even. Anything that doesn't conform to their way of thinking they out right delete. Then they wonder why the server population is low and no new players are joining up. lol So your left basically looking at them going really? I mean you seriously got to ask? lmao!!!! 🤣

Now they have done an awesome job in terms of what they have pushed out and there are a lot of good community members still there. Just in terms of emulators projects they have done a ♥♥♥♥ job in reaching their goals in any form of timely manner. It's almost two decades later and they have yet to push out a completed project let alone even a space game. They can't even do major updates with out doing entire server wipes. That is pathetic by any standards. No other emulator project in the history of online gaming has ever taken this long to reach some completed form of the game they are trying to emulate ever. So terms of emulator projects in general this team is by far the worst.

So all that being said in it's current form the SWGEmu is not a long term play mmo. If you want to play around in a time capsule then by all means go for it. If your looking for an emulator project with a growing community however then I am sorry, but this one just is not the one right now until they seriously get their act together over there.

I give them a 5/10 only because the work they have done and contributed so far and nothing else.

Now let's take SWG Legends. They actually have a completed game and no impending server wipes. They actually run the server like it was the live server back in the day. They are very engaging with their community. I have only been with them for a year and I have seen more respect shown and given to players of the community and even other SWG projects by them then I have ever seen shown from the SWGEmu and I been with them from the start. So that really does speak volumes to me. They are also actively developing new content and quests expected to be released in the future as you would expect to see from an actual live mmorpg. This would be the one to choose for a long term game play investment.

I give them a 10/10 because this project has a completed version of the game and seems to be consistently growing and it is a completed project over all with new content in the works. If you want to feel like your playing on SWG Live again then this is the project for you. 😎

Ive been looking around and maybe I missed it, but I want to know which projects/servers have missions, or story/class missions?

I cant remember which one I played in 2016 (Awakening?) but I was disappointed when all I could find was bounty hunter missions, bosses, or resource missions. There was no direction in the game like I remember SWG having back before the shut down. Very sandbox like.

Maybe things have changed so Im curious if theres been updates or projects that closely resemble the OG galaxies experience

EMU is the one with generic stuff I think and Legends is the one with missions ;p
Tho if its direction your looking for swtor would be much better for ye love :)

Thanks, I had forgotten about TOR. Might install again, but there's that special charm of Galaxies. I'll see how it goes on Sentinels Republic this time.
KOOLLAYDTAC 13 Jan, 2020 @ 7:57pm
I actually enjoyed my time on Sentinels Republic, but if you want story line missions and quests and things of that sort I'd go with SWG Legends mate. Plus it has the space game so if you like space also then it'd definitely be the best one to choose. Hope this helps and good luck.:steamhappy:

It did help me, thanks. I spent a couple hours on Sentinels Republic and it was fun, I like their class system and it feels very open. I switched over to Legends and it has that familiar feeling I was looking for from the original Galaxies and will be hanging out there.

SWG Resurgence is kind of like Legends in that it's NGE, but they have the Rare Loot System, and the rewards are quite a bit bigger. They have a dedicated developer who is actually working on updates, and a new planet for the next update. Won't go into details, but if you join us there you will see the updates in the Discord.

EMU have server code built from the ground up (reverse engineered) Legends and some of the other POST NGE upgrade use leaked code from SOE for the server.

I started playing this week on the Legends server and it is extremely fun. An online friend got me into it and has been showing me the ropes. This is a very deep and complicated MMORPG, but its completely worth the effort to learn how to play.

eh...yeh, but it's NGE... Doesn't matter how they do this or that, it's still NGE. Looking to possibly get back to some SWG but zero chance I'd waste my time with a NGE server. That's what made me quit the game all those years ago. NGE is just a bad game no matter how you try to dress it up.

Matter of opinion FeLoNiouS.

Imo the only thing NGE got wrong was allowing Jedi as a playable class from the beginning, the rest of it is good.

Legends have done a marvellous job, not only in restoring the NGE game to feel like Live again, but they have also added some awesome new content: Bespin.

Also necroing a 4 year old comment just to spit bile seems a particularly sad thing to do. Go play emu and leave your pointless poison comments to yourself.
