Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6

Visual bug - help needed (possibly solved)
I am having a problem with how the game looks - there is some weird filter on the screen making the game look very washed out and it is unplayable. I did play the demo for a couple of hours and I did not have this problem.

I have tried changing between borderless and fullscreen, changed the refresh rate, turned on (and off) colourblind mode in accessibility options, changed the brightness settings, verified files in Steam and restarted the game and my PC. Nothing works. Any suggestions?

ETA: This seemed to work for me. In the Nvidia control panel, under Manage 3D settings for Far Cry 6, disable Automatic Display Switching.

Unfortunately, no solution yet. I also posted on Ubisoft's discord last night but no response yet. I also tried to look at a way to ask for support via their website but they seem to have one of those support systems where you just click on one link after another, going in circles.

ETA: ok, I decided to run down my Nvidia setttings, changing them one by one. I seem to have solved it. In the Nvidia control panel, under Manage 3D settings for Far Cry 6, I disabled Automatic Display Switching. I no longer have this issue - not sure if it's permanent or if I'll get this issue again but for now, my screen looks normal.

First off, as someone who's been frantically searching for even a hint of someone else seeing this same bug, thank you for existing and proving I'm not going insane!

Secondly, and more pertinently: I've tried changing the Automatic Display Switching, but to no avail at all. I suppose I'm just bumping this in the hopes that anyone else might have something else to add that could help.

It could be a combination of my settings that fixed it? I do know that people had similar issues with Elden Ring and had to use Borderless and change one or two other settings such as refresh rate so it could be that you need a few tweaks. I do also have a couple of the Nvidia settings changed from the default ones.

Disabling Automatic Display Switching is definitely what did it for me (I tried re-enabling it to see if I had the bug again and I did), but it could be that that was just the last change I needed. This bug has never returned since I left it off.

If you would like, you could share with me some of the settings related to display you have in-game settings and Nvidia (such as screen mode, refresh rate etc.) and I could compare it to mine?

Also, one final thing: one solution I did find that some people suggested that never worked for me was changing the colour blind settings in the accessibility features in game. Apparently, if you changed one thing in the in-game 'Colours' menu, it would sometimes enable colour blind mode which would give people weird filters with washed out different colours on the top and bottom of the screen.
