Thanks for all the feedback! Here's a list of all the hot fixes this week:

• Moved the fishing rod to the level up chest
  
• Tweaked the base overcharge stats for all weapons
  
• Removed overcharge scaling from weapons which always fire once off cooldown
  
• Starting a raid no longer removes arrows pointing at other raids
  
• Off-screen enemies are no longer considered for raid conditions
  
• Time based enemy raids now trigger the next wave immediately if all enemies have been killed
  
• Added support for DX12 and Vulkan based renderers (which should fix issues on Intel ARC graphics card)
  
• Changed Flintlock Pistol description from "Increase damage permanently on level up" to "Increase damage for each level gained with the pistol"
  
• Fixed a bug where treasures which don't persist on the grid (such as "Hand of Glory") wouldn't be revealed in the stash
  
• Fixed a bug where some enemies wouldn't spawn if killed on a prior run in the same session
  
• Fixed a bug where bottles couldn't be picked up if every island had been loaded
  
• Fixed a bug where bottles wouldn't drop after raiding a single island

We'll have another QoL update out shortly to improve the in-run menus, and following that we're working on overhauling the crew system, the next area, and whatever other QoL improvements we can make in the meantime.

We're dropping anchor to bring you the next Sea of Survivors update!

Hidden deep within the murky waters of the Shifting Isles, the Curseweavers gather, toiling in unity, weaving curse after curse on one another with singular purpose, uniting the world under a nightmarish order, by bringing forth the Great One.

In the Shifting Isles, there's many secrets to discover:

• 3 new weapons
  
• 3 new bosses
  
• 10 new enemies
  
• 35 new locations
  
• 21 new bounties
  
• 21 new treasures

The Shifting Isles come with a lot of other changes:

• The Grand Deep has been completely rearranged
  
• The Dutchman has a new moveset
  
• The barrel dropping sloops have completely new art
  
• Some Raids now require kills to complete, instead of time
  
• There's a new Raid UI for counting the seconds left or kills required
  
• Renamed preparation to charge
  
• New weapon charging UI for visualizing cooldown/charge interactions
  
• 6 new stats - Overcharge (weapon magazine size), Wisdom (xp rate), Greed (doubloon rate), Reach (pickup range), Hardness (damage reduction), and Recovery (Hp regen)
  
• Coin treasures now immediately give doubloons, instead of waiting until the end of the run
  
• Make Pegleg always give 5 Amount - we've added more ways to build amount, and more ways to duplicate treasures, and we cannot make computers/enemies keep up with the old pegleg.
  
• Lightning bounces now scale with the Amount stat
  
• Removed the Bounce stat - Bounce turned every projectile weapon into lightning, making them all feel the same, as well having negative impacts on weapon balance and performance, so we've made the call to cut it.
  
• Islands now have a sea foam VFX effect applied

This update took us awhile, we had to rebuild a few systems to allow us to add all the new content, going forwards, we're going to be doing smaller more frequent updates. We're still not sure how we're going to split the next area up into smaller updates, but the next updates will come a lot quicker than this one did!

We're thrilled to announce that Sea of Survivors has been handpicked for PixElated Festival, presented by Brave At Night!

The festival celebrates the best indie games with outstanding pixel art, and we're honored to be among the select few chosen to present their games. The event runs from July 29th to August 5th, 2024, and will be a visual feast for all pixel art enthusiasts.

Just a list of changes based on all your feedback that have been made this week.

QoL:
- Added an arrow indicator to shipwrecked crew mates
- Stop shipwrecked crew mates from sinking if you sail too far away
- Made right-click pause the game to allow for mouse-only gameplay
- Added keybinds for controlling map zoom on keyboard (ctrl/shift, or 1/2, or +/-)
- Added staked doubloons to the end game stats menu
- Adjusted the names/order of doubloon related stats for clarity
- Optimized the skeleton rowboats to reduce frame drops when battling them

Bugs fixes:
- Fixed a bug where staked doubloons were counted towards doubloon collected achievements
- Fixed a bug where bottled maps may direct the player towards an captured port
- Fixed a bug where picking up multiple merchant chests at the same time would sometimes not award all the chests
- Fixed a bug where opening the steam overlay or pausing at the wrong time would softlock the game on the pause menu
- Fixed a bug where the pan speed on the map depended on FPS
- Fixed a bug where crew mate XP was rendered incorrectly when a crew mate leveled up during a run
- Fixed a bug where picking up a crew mate during a run didn't apply the crew mates skills

We’re dropping anchor again to bring you the next Sea of Survivors update! This one introduces new mechanics at the voyage level and the progression level, as well as a lot of systems, quality of life, and bug fixes in preparation for the upcoming content update.

We’ve added a live map to the pause menu, which shows locations you’ve visited, or raided, and the path your voyage has taken. The new pause menu also lets you view crew, stats, and your captains log live during the run.

The Conquerors Cross now doubles all other upgrades, including Salt, Ritual Dagger, Heart of the Kraken, not just stats anymore, all of them! This is actually just the result of a much bigger change, we had to rebuild the upgrade system to let us do a lot of cool new things for the upcoming biome. So now, the Cross doubles everything, a lot of other small interactions have improved, and we can update your stats live as you hover slots with your treasure!

A lot of captains have amassed tremendous fortunes, our plan is to give you more to spend that gold on throughout your voyages, once you’ve parted with 10,000 gold upgrading your ship, you’ll unlock the ability to invest a stake in your voyages, which can only (for now) be spent re-rolling chests. Be careful however, if you sink while staking, you’ll lose all the doubloons you staked, and collected throughout that run.

Discover various hideout locations through the Grand Deep, which you can embark from on future voyages, and dock at to escape the hordes. Embarking from a port means you start in a different location. After raiding a port, you’ll have the option to dock, ending the run early, but ensuring you don’t sink and lose your crew, stake, or treasure.

The next big update will feature the Shifting Isles, a new area introducing new treasures, enemies, bosses, raids, crew skills, and mechanics. Look forward to more ways to spend your doubloons, more crazy builds, and more unique pirate adventures. We really want to make each voyage feel unique, so Sea of Survivors still has a long way to go.

• Fixed a bug where the explosion VFX on the barrels dropped by the fast boat weren’t aligned with barrels

We've just hauled a new update onto Steam.

We've gotten lots of feedback on Steam, worried that we've abandoned Sea of Survivors: We haven't! We're a small team of 3 and this is our first game, so we've had some growing pains, but we've been hard at work on the systems of Sea of Survivors, and the next area, featuring new enemies, new weapons, new items, and new islands. We're going to ship more smaller updates to make it more obvious we're still hard at work!

The highlight of today's update is a new weapon to celebrate Pirates vs Ninjas! The Shuriken! For now it starts unlocked, but we'll change that once when we introduce the new area.

This is the full list of changes:

• New weapon - Shuriken
  
• Reworked the Blunderbus Ambushers
  
• Gave the Cannonback Tortuga a tether and a Dash attack!

• Picking up a map in a bottle now lets the player pick the destination type out of 3 options
  
• The end of run captains log now features a list of events that occurred in the run, with split times

• Crewmates are now sorted by Xp in the Tavern
  
• Crewmate skill filters are now in alphabetical order in the Tavern
  
• Anchors are now considered a Melee weapon for the sake of bounties
  
• Added a feedback button to the pause menu
  
• Added a new curse for disabling map pickups
  
• Killing the Dutchman now collects all dropped coins
  
• Blazebeards Wake kills now count as fire kills for the sake of bounties

• Fixed a bug where a treasure and the 50% xp for skipping could be taken in the upgrade screen
  
• Health bar width is now capped to prevent pushing the timer off the screen

From the depths comes a limited time only game mode exclusive to Steam Scream 2023, you'll have to row like you've never rowed before to outrun the horrors of the deep and their undead compatriots.

This game mode will go away at the end of Steam Scream, and is teasing some future content, make sure to check it out!
This update also enables steam achievements! Any bounties you've already collected should automatically be added to your steam profile upon opening Sea of Survivors.

• Raids now reset if you get too far away

Happy to announce Sea of Survivors has entered Early Access! We've been building and playtesting for a long time now, and we're finally ready to open it up to the world.
