Supported Controllers
God of War Ragnarök on PC has built-in support for a range of controllers and Steam Input, which supports all xinput devices. When using a supported controller, the game displays in-game icons for each type and fully supports rumble features.

We recommend using one of these controllers for the best experience:
  • DualSense (PlayStation 5)*
  • DualSense Edge (PlayStation 5)*
  • DualShock 4 (PlayStation 4)
  • All xinput devices
*Use wired USB connection to experience full set of DualSense controller features

Steam Input
God of War Ragnarök supports Steam Input, which allows you to use any controller and enables controller reconfiguration. You can configure your controller in the General Controller Settings, found in the Controller section of the Steam Settings menu.

Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing issues with your controller:
  • Try disabling Steam Input: right-click the game in Steam, select Properties, choose Controller and select Disable Steam Input.
  • Try disconnecting any other controllers that might be connected to your system.
  • Try a different connection method for your controller, such as a different USB port, or try a wired connection instead of wireless.

[WORKAROUND] Windows 10 Build 19041 Error

Upon booting the game, if you receive an error that says ‘You need at least Windows 10 build 19041’, please try the following steps:
  1. Close Steam
  2. Follow this filepath:
    C:\Users\[YOUR USER]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Steam
  3. Right-click on the Steam icon and select ‘Open File Location’
  4. Right-click on the Steam icon again and select ‘Properties’
  5. Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab
  6. Un-check the box that says ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for:’
  7. Select ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’
  8. Try launching the game on Steam
If you are still seeing this error, please try the following steps:
  1. Right-click on the game in your left-hand Steam library menu
  2. Select ‘Manage’ and then ‘Browse local files’
  3. Right-click on the game .exe file and select ‘Properties’
  4. Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab
  5. If checked, un-check the box that says ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for:’
  6. Select ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’
  7. Try launching the game on Steam

A 6GB VRAM GPU is required to run God of War Ragnarök

As of Patch 2, GPUs with less than 6GB of VRAM are no longer blocked from launching the game.

Please note that a 6GB card is still the required spec.

4GB cards are not supported and you may encounter performance issues or crashes. Play at your own risk.

PlayStation Network Account User Flow

A PlayStation Network account is required to play God of War Ragnarök. Here we will guide you through the log-in sequence upon booting up the game for the first time and the variables that may contribute to your particular user flow.

Please note, an internet connection is required to complete the sign-in/account linking process. Once this is complete, you will not need an internet connection to play God of War Ragnarök.

You will not be prompted to repeat the process in future sessions.

NEW TO PLAYSTATION NETWORK OR LINKING TO STEAM ACCOUNT FOR THE FIRST TIME

PSN Account Log-In / Creation
  • [DESKTOP] Upon boot up, an in-game overlay will prompt you to log-in/create an account.
  • [STEAM DECK] Upon boot up, a browser window will open and prompt you to log-in/create an account.
Linking PSN and Steam Accounts
  • [DESKTOP] Linking your PSN and Steam accounts is optional and not required to play the game on desktop.
  • [STEAM DECK] Linking your PSN and Steam accounts is required to play the game on Steam Deck. 

PRIOR PLAYSTATION OVERLAY SIGN-IN
If you have signed into the PlayStation overlay at any point prior to booting up God of War Ragnarök for the first time, you will need to confirm your account through the in-game overlay.  After the account is confirmed, you will not be asked to do so again to play God of War Ragnarök in future sessions.

NO PRIOR PLAYSTATION OVERLAY SIGN-IN
If you have linked your PSN and Steam accounts before booting up God of War Ragnarök for the first time, you will not be asked to log-in/confirm your account in the overlay again before playing.
