Co-op not working

me and my friend would really like to try this game but when we start a remote play session one only one can controll everything and the other cant. Could someone pls walk us trough this so we can finally play together?

Added Steam controller support (you should now be able to play the game with offbrand controllers)
Added a controller connected heads up display (shows how many controllers are connected / if player 2 has joined the game)
Added Prompt to main menu that explains that two controllers are required to play co-op
Added 16:10 resolutions in settings resolutions dropdown
Fixed a bug where wrong glyphs would be displayed on UI if controllertype was not XBox / PS4
Fixed a bug where main menu navigation did not work

Performance

The game runs smooth for me in my screen's native 1080p and 75fps, but my GPU's coolers go at full speed. I know the RTX 2070 I have isn't exactly a beast, but it doesn't need to put so much effort to run much more technically demanding games. Can something be done about this? Also, is there a reason why there's a "Wishlist" button on the start screen... of the full version of the game?...

This is the first time a single level in the game has been bad enough for me to request a refund. Was really fun up until the point where we had to drink the water, it just simply wouldn't work. Fun for a bit but gets old fast.

Funny lighthearted game to play w your spouse. Had a good laugh instead of any frustration. Only downside was that the game took us only 90 minutes to complete, would have enjoyed a little more levels!
