however, i wasnt sure about the interconnectivity between the doom 2 stand alone game and the updated 1 game and the doom 3 game. i was assuming each program within steam would have its own copy of files, but i wanted to be 100% sure. better safe than sorry.
as someone who has a bipolar brain, my brain was offering up possibilities like the patched doom 1 + 2 might pull some kind of common file, that the doom 2 standalone folder also used.
i used to know computer programming, but that was more than 20 years ago, and i dont know the realm possibilities anymore. if the total size is minuscule, then i might just hide the game from showing in the library.
can this be removed?
Other than that ,this unity version seems well worth a play even when I own the newer version ,since they feel different in play. This old version reminds me more of Doom Retro - and the new version doesn't.
Also having both versions on PC at once gives me some play room if I wish to swap 1 or both dosbox.exe s for another app -like GZdoom or PsyDoom -as I have.
Not sure why Doom 2's listing wasn't deleted by them though...
I prefer that they not delete it, since doom+doom2 does not have options to aim or jump, which are required in many mods. I can use Doom2 to play the mods that require those mechanics, and the other to play online, etc.
I keep Doom II installed and basically use it for Gzdoom/Doom Runner, and leave Doom I+Doom II alone as the base rerelease.
