I loved the game played for a long time, there is work to be done with lag spikes but can live with it. The main issue is when china joins a server and uses hacks to ghost into you base that you spent months building and they destroyed within minutes without spending any materials to do it. This is a game killer in my opinion with no bans happening and allowing these hacks to continue still to this day. The player base is a small fraction of what it was due to this and they loose more each day due to these hackers. Why put over 800 hours in a game to have hard worked destroyed by cheaters its one thing to get wiped by normal players but to not be able to defend when being attacked is extremely frustrating. Till they find a new anti hack to use that actually works me and 15 friends will go play games else ware. So if your looking to get this game beware of the unchecked hacking in this game.

I am a sucker for zombies and a sucker for the whole survival/craft genre of games. So, it's obvious why i purchased The Front. The "Overwhelmingly Negative" review rating may explain why after a few hours of play I have requested a refund. I am a "nice guy" and I don't like to refund any purchases. But the list of negatives is far too long, especially for a game that is over a year since release as of the time of my purchase:

1. The lighting is a terrible, flat, universal ambiance. Causes everything to look flat, like it is made of food storage containers.
2. The combat, to say the least, is uninspired. I've built a house before I can construct a bow, or even a weapon that could be thrown.
3. After playing Valheim, Enshrouded and Soulmask, the crafting here is far too primitive and the environment far too un-interactive. Metal tools everywhere: shovels, pitchforks... can't pick em up. They're decor. Same with stacks of cut wood, 50 gal cans, barrells, etc.
4. The wilidlife? Wow. Follow a deer. It's not afraid of me till after I hit it. It runs into the deepest zone of the sea. Comes back. Still not afraid. I hit it and it dies. I pull out my new stone axe. I hack at it generating meet and hides making sounds like sawing lumber. The deer vanishes. I have a very short time to make a bonfire to cook the meat or it rots. And, oh yeah, can't use the pot suspended over an active fire. That's decor too.
5. Where the heck did Bob come from? Yes, Bob. A player entered my world, thought he'd hit me with a club. I had set up a PRIVATE SERVER. It was set for PvE. But in the middle of my crafting, here comes Bob. When I see him in the periphery of my vision, I turn to face him in a my full first-craft armor set and my stone club. He runs away.
6. Water? The ocean floats out there at a higher level than the sand. The physics of how it appears makes no sense.
7. Music? The early theme is the happy homey music similar to Valheim in the Meadows. Then, I attack this golem looking zombie and the music shifts into warband: da-da-da-DUM-DUM-DUM-da-da, da-da-etc. I kill the thing relatively quickly. You know, advanced tactics: backup... run around him... hold down mouse button for charge swing... bap... backup... etc. He's dead. I get a can of gas I can't figure out how to put in the little car. (Why am I crafting in the stone age when we've got a car?) Anyway, he's dead. Dissolves into nothing leaving a bag with a timer on it like most everything does... but... the music? Keeps going... Keeps going... Keeps going...
8. Wild boars. Friendly. They don't fight till you hit them. Go around. Hit them again...
9. Beds in the fishing village. The bed I was told to make. You can't sleep on them. It's a zombie game a year old and there's no way to sleep on this zillion of beds. And oh yeah, why am I building this four-foundationed shack when there's a whole fishing village to live in?

I could go on. Unfortunately, after a year from release, this thing still looks like it was put together by a high school programming class. Avoid this waste of time.

After just 5 minutes with The Front, it’s clear this game has potential, but technical issues make it nearly unplayable. Even on solid hardware (RTX 3060,Ryzen 5 3600, 32Gb Ram), the game struggles to deliver a stable experience, with constant stuttering and severe frame drops that make any enjoyment impossible.

With the game barely running, it’s difficult to evaluate the gameplay itself. The little I managed to experience hinted at a typical survival shooter formula, but the constant lag and freezing turned even the most basic actions into a chore.

The game’s performance is the biggest drawback. Despite running it on an RTX 3060 , the optimization is so poor that no settings adjustments could resolve the constant issues. For a game that demands decent hardware, this level of performance is unacceptable.

At this point, Unless the developers significantly improve optimization, it’s impossible to recommend this game—even for hardcore survival fans.
