Cat Controls are broken

So the cat chase scene pops up, it says "Hold SHIFT or R2 to run" I hit the button, and the cat still kills me, Wtf? It doesn't seem like it's only me that is having trouble with this, like why am I dying over and over again, for doing what the game is telling me to?...

Love the game up until the cat chase scene. mechanics suck for this scene, you cant see whats ahead and truthfully, it;s the reason i deleted the game.

Stuck, cat chase scene isn't working

is anyone else having this problem?? I will go to hold the button it's asking for but the cat immediately catches me no matter what I do, I've restarted my computer, the level, tried using an Xbox controller instead, nothing is working. Help plz
