This game had a phenomenal trailer, and obviously it being story-based it makes you want to personally get into it for yourself. The visuals are phenomenal, there are a lot of cheeky nice/cute little homages to DbD

And that's it! Those are the only good things about this game. The story does the whole multiple timelines thing so all your choices not actually mattering or huge plotholes are saved by the fact something that would conflict with another thing in the mainline story simply happened in a different timeline, it's stupid, plus the characters minus Sam are just completely unlikable. Why did Frank Stone appear in like 5 different settings and outfits in the trailer when he only appears twice in two different settings (more if you count his stupid fatal frame rip-off phantom) with 2 outfits only? Plus as stated the choices you make are very non-impactful and change basically nothing except for a few cutscenes, otherwise there are NO consequences, NO real choices, even the endings with different characters have those characters say the SAME EXACT THINGS. There is no excuse for this being as bad, dull, and empty as it is, so I'm confident in not recommending this game to anybody even for achievement hunting (it's such a drag, don't even bother).

After beating this game, it just didn't seem all that great. I loved the kills and the killer, however everything else either was dumb, meaningless, or just down right confusing. Plus didn't feel like I had any freedom in the game, like when choosing what to say, still results in them just saying the other option too sometimes. Also there was an update, however it didn't fix ♥♥♥♥. Screen tears like crazy when entering a new scene almost every time. So overall I give this game a 6/10 and for those who enjoy the game good for you homie.

Love these types of game, it was fun to play. But I was incredibly disappointed with the ending. No matter what you do it is the same ending /: for an interactive choice game not having multiple endings is super lame.

This game has a multitude of issues. I like the idea of a Dark Pictures like story game, but they have failed on multiple avenues of the game. To start off with, they learned nothing from releasing DBD with no survive with friends. This is a $40-$50 game you can ONLY play in local co-op, and doesn't even offer remote play together to compensate for the lack of online play. I was able to play with friends by downloading "Remote play whatever" but it came with it's own issues and was a unnecessary work around for lack of features from the devs. People want to play the game with their friends.. let them. They lost SO much money they could have gotten from just including online play and made it much harder for their users.

On top of the lack of online play, the game itself is VERY buggy. The movement does not feel smooth, the animations are clunky, and the graphics were not well optimized making it hard to play at some points.

The game itself relies HEAVILY on the players having played DBD, if you're just a normal player launching this game you will not understand half the references and "easter eggs" in the game. This is just a love letter to the DBD playerbase to be like "Ooh! Trapper mask! Cow tree!" to get it's ooh's and ahh's instead of relying on actual good story writing.

I only got to play through probably half the game before they updated and wiped my entire save file. Unbelievable. With how many issues I had trying to get the game to work for it to wipe and still more than a week or two later there is still no fix is insane. I don't want to have to replay the entire game after spending $50 for a game that should work. I have lost any faith that BHVR can make a functioning game outside of DBD at this point. After this failure they just announced they closed projection on their other upcoming game, and after this experience I think it may have been the right call.

The bare minimum is that the game functions well, and that we keep our saves and progress, and they couldn't even achieve that. Very very disappointing. I really wish I never wasted $50 on this.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the in game dbd rewards never worked for me either. A measly 2 million bloodpoints for a $50 game and they STILL haven't figured out how to deliver them to the buyers. It's embarrassing.

This is NOT a standalone game; it's for Dead by Daylight fans. The Fog, The Entity—it's all part of the DBD universe, so don't buy it if you know nothing about the game. From my perspective, it's a great game. I loved the story, the concept of time travel, the cursed tapes, the multiple endings, and especially the Easter eggs—I couldn't help but smile every time I saw a killer plushie. I admit it could've been a little longer, and some dialogues were cringe, but overall I enjoyed the ride.

This is a very good game. I enjoyed it. I did not 100% it because I'm not that guy, but I did manage to beat the game with my own path. Please do ignore 90% of the bad reviews on this game, as it is just people coping really hard. People are complaining this game is meant for DbD fans, and they bought it knowing this, the title literally says so. Why complain about something you knew beforehand, you didn't even need to complain at all if it bothered you that much. The characters were very interesting to me, and they also had your generic cheesey "horror movie character" moments attached to them, but what horror game doesn't? The story was great, I was really invested, I played from the first install all the way until the end of the game, I was that invested.

The game had performance issues, such as annoyingly loading during gameplay instead of a loading screen, making the game freeze for 5-10 seconds for it to render the cutscene.
I also faced a bug that prevented me from doing certain choices one way, but was able to do those same choices via another way, I'm sure theyll fix this so this may or may not be fixed by the time you read this.

It is a miracle that I was even able to run this game because I'm somewhere near the minimum in regards to hardware. So I did not pay mind to optimization issues if any; I was just glad that the game ran. I was so excited for this game, I made fan art, re-watched the trailer so many times, all in anticipation for a lore-expanding DBD title that could explain potentially the entity's origins and Frank Stone's role in all of it. I preordered because I am a fool for the bonuses, and I like getting things in games I play a lot (like DBD) but looking back now, it really was not worth it.

To preface, I've got one play through done. I plan to do more, but recently I was curious to see how other people felt and it made me inspired to write my review, to contribute I guess. I'll play more of it at some point, but my knowledge on DBD lore is probably intermediate. I didn't get all the references in this game to DBD, but I got a good amount of them I feel.

So, this review's negative recommendation is not because of bugs or how the game was optimized; I was able to have a satisfactory experience on that end. But this review is about the story and lack of decision making that led to my bad experience. I already gave my two cents on this game in the player satisfaction survey, so I'll summarize what I said there:

Even though the story did not discuss the entity's origin like I was hoping, I still had faith in the game. I was hoping that a majority of the story would be in the 1980's and the characters would strategically navigate the mill avoiding Frank Stone and it would be akin to the horror movie they were making. Maybe they would have to do generators throughout the mill to escape or something, like a DBD match but with more story surrounding the characters and more in depth decisions. I felt like I was watching a movie and did nothing of substance.

I thought we'd see more of Cedar Hills, or see these characters find a way to outsmart Frank and send him back to the grave in a kind of IT-style fashion. But once I started to like characters, they would die in the next couple of scenes and I felt that I had no control over that.

I'll be more skeptical about future DBD properties and will not let a preorder bonus entice me. I like single player story games and I liked Until Dawn, but this did not meet the mark for me.

It's actually pretty alright, a typical game from Supermassive. If you don't like DBD, you might not like this becasue it's basically filled with nothing but references to the game and expands upon the lore of it. Frank Stone is kinda short, but you can play around with the different choices through the story. Don't expect a bunch of different endings, they're all kinda mostly the same.

If you like Supermassive games and Dead by Daylight lore, you'll like this. If you don't like both or one of the other, then you'll probably hate the game.
