so we go from 4.2 to 4.11?

It's really interesting.
But why bringing discussion about kernel and glibc patches here?
Are there any problems with getting those changes accepted into upstream by corresponding project maintainers?

"Last year, as we were ramping up Proton development,"... this sentence stole my full attention and completely missed the rest. Are we still "ramping up Proton development" this year?

If nobody else says it: "Thank you Valve for funding this work"

I find myself wondering if anybody is testing these changes on a AMD APU based Chromebook using Steam installed through ChromeOS's native Debian Package support?

These updates are huge! Thank you for posting info about kernel patches - these are so welcome.

Valve are the heroes we need.

@Je Saist
I doubt anyone is testing this particular configuration, since it's quite extraordinary, but you can be the one to test and report issues. That's how Free Software actually work. Must add, I presume, those issues should be driver related, not Proton related.

Also, while common, this is pretty perverted configuration for a GNU/Linux PC.
May I ask what's your reason of using it. Is getting something better not an option for you?

@L1Q They follow Wine’s versioning. The 4.11 means the new Proton is based on Wine 4.11. Proton 4.2 had Wine 4.2 as its base. It’s not because it’s 9 iterations on top of Proton 4.2
