this looks like one of those dumb decisions to hide "technical data" to make the app "clean" and "friendly" that end up making it opaque and its behaviour unintuitive because the user is therefore unable to discern between "normal slow" and frozen, jittery, flaky, abnormally slow, too-huge-cancel-please, etc
