This is a users forum, no Proton devs around, but rest assured they'll have this in place some day.
Proton periodically rebases itself against newer versions of Wine, so fixes being added to WINE always end up in Proton too.
It might just take a while, so if you want Proton with that patch your best bet is probably using Proton GE (3rd-party effort to bring the whole Proton patchset (and some extra patches of its own) to newer versions of WINE faster than Valve does.

ps: there is also a significant chance that fixes like this are first developed in Proton Experimental and only merged into WINE later, but I saw no mention of this in the commit explanation, so probably not the case.
