Steam for Linux

"Steamwebhelper is not responding" Tried everything
A week ago I made a "Discussion" where I wrote this
"Hello!

Whenever I start Steam I get the "Steamwebhelper is not responding", I have enabled every option the error message has to offer but it hasn't worked. I have also scattered the internet and seen that many people have had the same issue as me but no solution has worked.

I'm sort of new to Steam and I don't know how to fix this, so if there is anyone that knows or that can try and help me that would be great. I'm also able to add stuff to the message to try and help to understand the situation If that makes sense...

Thanks! "

I was told to post it here, Some stuff I'd like to add to the message is that I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 and that I've never had this issue before.

What do I do?
-Thanks!

Have this sometimes, but you need to re-capture the window of the steamwebhelper to push any button. [ALT]+[TAB] until you reach it.

Thank you for the reply,
but the issue is not that I can't "press" any of the options but rather that they don't do anything.
How did you install steam?

I installed it using the ".deb" file on the website

That's how I should download it right?
it should be fine, but it's advisable to use the apt repository version for ubuntu. I'd avoid the snap and flatpak versions, as they are not officially supported by valve.

I am still having the same issue even with the apt repository, sorry to be like this but could you tell me exactly how to install it because i don't know if I'm doing it correctly.

Is it possible that my system is to old and cant run it anymore, and also can you revert to a older version of steam to one that worked for me?
no reverting to an earlier version of steam, valve doesn't officially support it. not sure about hardware requirements for steam, the only requirements I ever saw were specific to OS versions and ubuntu 20.04 is well above the minimum.

the following are the install instructions for the apt repository or the .deb from the steam web page. https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-steam-on-ubuntu-22-04-jammy-jellyfish-linux
