I prefer manually, as CKAN doesn't even run on apple silicon macs

CKAN because no mistakes are made and related mods are included.

Literally this. It's two files at most to start ckan, can put it on a folder on desktop or installation folder like mine. It'll save you a ton of time and help you update all mods at the same time, faster.
