I'm seeing people say ep1 is crashing a lot but I'm getting this in HL2 too. Every one or two map loads, it crashes after my next first activation of a commentary node. I can't play longer than 15-20 minutes

Event Viewer tells me the cause of the crash every time is nvgpucomp32.dll, 32 bit part of an nvidia driver. I have the latest nvidia drivers installed, and NO other game crashes for me except this update for HL2. I went back to the legacy build and played for hours.

All my drivers are up to date too and im running an RTX4060 i should not be having these issues with a 20 year old game, even with the anniversary update im just hoping its fixed soon

also getting he issue to on half life 2 trying to play the thing all over again but for me it even makes stream crash or at least this time I went to load the game back up and stream and paranrly wasn't even there as weird indeed

Do you get any particular error or does the game simply close itself?

game just completely closes, no error no warning, nothing even going on in the game so it makes me thing certain level load triggers are making me crash because its never during combat

Open "Event Viewer" from your Start menu and, under "Windows logs", select "Application". You can filter the list by error, events etc.
You might be able to find a detailed explanation as to why the application unexpectedly shut down.

No permission to run episodic. What dose it mean how do I fix it? Cant run game.

I turned off Steam Game Recording for specifically Half-Life 2 and now I'm not getting any issues. Again, weird, because steam game recording is not causing me any issues in other games.

Edit: never mind... still crashing in commentary mode...

I have been having an issue too the very moment I go to "We don't go to Ravenholm". It runs just fine, but everytime I look to the leftward path it immediately crashes my game without freezing and doens't tell me the cause. It happens both modded and unmodded, and tampering with the in-game settings seems to do nothing.

The game just crashed, I wanted to write about this problem in ep1 and I see that I'm not the only one with this problem. I didn't install any mods, it's a clean game.

I keep getting a crash in Episode one in the Lowlife chapter sometime after I turn on the power to the elevator. I think it's right after one of the zombies throws a grenade too. Has anyone found a solution to all these crashes yet?

Have the same problem as you, bro. Haven't find any solution so far. For now Steam client service can't offer help to this crash problem.
