Psyker Build Question
If I want to have a pure spellcasting/force staff wielding psyker, what's the best class? Soldier to archmilitant or operative to bounty hunter?

I'm also thinking of soldier to grand tactician or bounty hunter.

Does the archmilitant's versatility passive proc when casting different spells or alternating between spells and weapons? I do know it at least used to add its buff to spell damage, though.

I'm thinking of a Pyro/sanctic with a focus on flamers/meltaguns.

That or a warrior/assassin pyro/sanctic that focuses on the sword Sanctics can summon. I know bladedancer/executioner pyro/sanctic/bio is strong, but I'm running that on an alt already.

Officer blends well, your officer talents and psyker buff powers feel very similar and fit the same modes of play, and that'd be very different from your bladedancer.

Thanks, but what about an offensive spam caster?

psyker powers are tough to spam bc of Perils, u want something that pairs well with Cassia for spam (navigator powers correctly built are the easiest way to repair the veil). Sanctic sword gets around this by casting once for multiple turns of attacks, pyromancy avoids it by hitting with Big Powers.

Officer has a surprising spam potential with sanctic tho bc sanctic has both +wp and +psy rating when other party members get extra turns or use momentum abilities, which officer is good at boosting. Probably doesn't outperform any of the murder archetypes for the blade tho, and sanctic's other stuff is mostly buff

iirc the general consensus is that BH is a weak archetype, I find it difficult to use well personally and its basic Heroic Act only works with the weapon in ur first slot (and only works well with that being a ranged weapon)

I know how to keep the veil down, and it's definitely possible to get strong enough to be functionally unaffected by perils.

I don't. Somehow, my 4er psyker party with 2 unsanctioned ones (Idira + Hireling) did trigger perils less than the other comp where it was just Idira. And it felt like the psychic powers barely moved the Veil Degration ....

My current main is a soldier/tactician pyromancer. He kicks so much booty it is not even funny. The only soldier talents I took were the one to improve cover and second skin, and no soldier abilities except the default revel in slaughter. BTW, concentrated fire doesn't affect Molten Beam, even though you would think it is a ranged area attack. The only tactician talents are ones that increase tactician stacks, to give me a nice damage boost when I need it. The fire staff is easy to get, but I always just cast spells. Backdraft is a must (acts like Idira's Aftershock), and the feat that melts armor is nice too.

Pyros used to be very mediocre, but not anymore, that's for sure.

Pyro passives were OP at launch; pyro crit chance and armor shred for dealing damage + soldier crit damage on hit + sanctis crit damage whenever anyone crits made for a nasty combo.

I tend to go Pyro->Telepathy after snagging up Inflame. The passives opf Telepathy are pretty damn good as well, because Pain Channeling works on non-mental psychic damage as well. Shame that Aftershock is limited to mental, but eh.
I personally found I didn't really care much for Orcehstrated Flame or Molten Beam, Most of the times I only did cast Ignite with the occasional Firestorm if the enemy was burning and had other enemies in range, as well as an inflame at the end of the turn.

But yeah, Pyro has the best passives. It also does synergize with Sanctis, since with Pyro, you can stack Crit Chance, and Sanctis increases crit damage. Add in the passive to let DoTs crit ... Not quite a fan of Biomancy, except you are melee orientated - though Burning Blood (I think its called? The one that deals damage whenever you take damage or use a psychic ability?) can stack a surprising amount of damage with, for example, the Psykers Breastplate.

Burning blood is pyro, I think. I'm just using Bio for the bleed on hit and executioner's passive which also has bleed on hit and triggers the damage over time on hit. Then make that all crit with pyro, and voila.

Is there a way of dealing poison on melee hit?
