Fallen Enchantress: The User Manual
Does it sometimes seem like games don't come with good manuals anymore? Especially in the age of digital distribution?

Check out the Fallen Enchantress user manual: http://stardock.cachefly.net/FE_manual.pdf

It's designed to be printed out on normal size paper but goes into extreme depth on the game mechanics, game philosophies, lore and more.

Thanks. I like reading manuals.

Awesome, I love a good manual :)

Only the other day I cringed at XCOM's poor excuse for a manual. It's nice to see people taking the time to properly explain game mechanics without trying to push people into buying strategy guides :)

Maybe pin this.

Very well done Brad and crew. One suggestion is I love how you guys did the Designer Notes on the different Sovereigns giving a "suggestion" on how to play. This would be useful to tag ingame somehow as well. May help people new to the game genre to figure out which one may fit thier playstyle etc etc.

That is a good idea. I'll talk to Derek. I think a general walk through and philosophy for each faction might be nice too.

Frogboy, maybe a link/mention to the online heirgamenon (spelling ?!?) in the manual would be nice as well. So MUCH info in there as well!

I've been on the fence with this game so far. I enjoy games like HOMM and Disciples, but have tried other games like Civ 5 and the Total War series and haven't got to grips with them. Some people report that this game is a kind of hybrid of the two. I for one, like manuals if they are brief, as I prefer a short tutorial and then learn as I go along. The sale price today is tempting me. As a relative newcomer, is this game easy to get into? Or is it a minefield of stats and steep curves

You could find this manual where you install FE, too.

There was a notice on their forums today that they were doing maintenance on forums and website, and to not be surprised if everything wasn't running quite right during that period.
