Whilst I think there's potential, and whilst this sort of game is normally right up my alley (I loved Worldless for example, but also more well-known games such as Sekiro).
- Crashing, this is honestly the main point, without it, I'd probably keep going, but in just 90 minutes, I've had three crashes.
- Sound design, or rather, lack thereof. It's incredibly bland, with barely any meaningful combat information being communicated through it. The lack of differentiation results in a game that feels very underwhelming, and combined with the visual noise, results in a lack of clarity.
- Something inconsistent is going on with the parry mechanic. I suspect what's happening is that if you're slightly too late on the parry, it goes on "cooldown", and since some combos are so fast, this makes it then impossible to parry the next chain in the attack. In a game where most single-combo chains can take you from full HP to death, and where attacks can be chained very quickly, this results in the common scenario where making one mistake, results in tanking multiple hits, which often is an instant death. That goes beyond challenge, and straight into the unfair/artificial difficulty territory. It's only a problem on certain very fast attack chains, but it's still a nuisance.

This game has beautiful graphics and a decent gameplay loop premise. However, don't purchase it unless you're a professional streamer. The dodge mechanic will make you invulnerable about half the time, and the other half you'll get hit anyways. The guard mechanic - which is mandatory to advance - seems to operate on a random number generator for when exactly you need to activate it, and only works for what appears to be a 0.1 second window. I'm just a casual gamer, and I only ever finished any encounter on luck. The difficulty ramping only seemed to change one thing - how quickly the enemies wind up an attack. The attack itself still happened at the same speed, just with more or less telegraphing. When I started I chose hard because I enjoy a challenge. However, when I dropped it down to easy in an attempt to understand what was going wrong, the slow wind up followed by the suddenly-fast attack was actually harder to gauge, because the wind up was not indicative of what to expect from the attack. I retried one particular fight multiple times just to test when exactly the guard is supposed to happen, and it turned out that guarding at the same time for the same attack would sometimes give different results, which is where I called it. It's a bit refreshing to see a guard-based rather than a dodge-based combat system - I always enjoy these games where movement and positioning is the better option over just tanking the damage - but this is poorly implemented.
