The game won't play for me - HELP

I think this is a common thing here but the game will NOT play for me :( I downloaded it and every time I go to play the game, it won't run - steam support can't help and I even contacted the developer but they said they don't support the game anymore "due to the age". Please help, I really wanna play this game
