Hello! I decided to try to see, if the game is possible to be beaten with 1 HP. I managed to get through the Kupa Keep tutorial, but once you go out. You are forced to go left where you get ambushed by 4 Elfs to get introduced to the items and buddy ability mechanic. For that the game forces the 2 front Elfs to attack you, both twice, resulting in 4 hits. I was able to avoid that by taking a hat and a suit, that give me 6/7 shield in total, that sounds perfect.
