Black screen on hammer editor

so when i launch hammer via half life 2 everything on the hammer screen is black can you help me ?

Maybe you are using Source SDK, broken since 2013. There's a FAQ thread pinned at the top of this forum, explaing everything. You must use hammer.exe in yourgame/bin folder, or Source2013 (sp or mp) if you want to make a mod.
Moreover, if you are new in mapping, I strongly suggest you to try Hammer++, with a lot of improvements that make mapping faster, easier and nicer. Here the link:
