A fun throwback to the ICQ/MSN and MySpace/Xanga days. The story is told through a pixel art-styled social media platform... kudos to the developer for this creative approach to a visual novel.

That said, the story is both cheesy and heartfelt (if you’re lawful good, it’s probably your jam). My biggest issue is the pacing—it’s a very slow game.

The story itself could’ve been wrapped up in 2 hours tops, but instead, it stretches to 5-6 hours because you’re stuck waiting for characters to “type” like they’re using the two-finger hunt-and-peck method (seriously, it’s so slow, haha).

Thumbs down, not because it’s bad, but just to balance the hype from >95% positive reviews. It’s worth checking out if you’re really into the premise, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

I’m yet to finish the game but I thought I’d drop a positive review because I don’t think I could be disappointed from this point onward!

Solid writing paired with a scarily authentic social network atmosphere. It’s a really interesting idea, game-fying the experience of scrolling through a forum! It’s really fun seeing the same characters pop up in comments and start forming opinions about them/find out their connections with others.

The call art is great, too!

I enjoyed this game significantly more than I thought I would. The narrative was compelling and the UI/UX really made me feel like Emmett. I really liked that the game barely indicated which dialogue choices would lead to which personality traits. And seeing how dialogue choices were understood by the narrative was cool. Choices that I thought were compassionate or friendly were taken as rude or obnoxious and drove the story in unexpected directions. Overall I found it to be a highly compelling and immersive game. The music is also wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the sound effects for typing and clicking and downloading. The only con I have is quite small. I didn't quite understand the mechanic that liking top posts would lead to Emmett taking notes until about half way through. I do wish that had been made more explicit. I know that the notebook has a note about it, but it wasn't clear for me. And that's a really small con. Wonderful game! I looking forward to playing again in a year or so.
