The Handcannon is...bad?
I finally unlocked it and my hype died instantly. I'm not a huge fan of unlimited ammo at all, so the exclusive upgrade means nothing to me, so let's get this straight:

The handcannon is currently the hardest to obtain weapon in the game, requiring a professional playthrough without any bonus assistance.

Meanwhile what do you get in return? A WHOOPING 36 damage for an SW500 magnum.
The broken butterfly, a weapon you can get an upgraded without any issues does 40.5 fully upgraded.

The handcannon is only any useful if you enjoy unlimited ammo, otherwise its trash.
Mods will probably fix it, but what the hell Capcom?

EDIT:
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/178?tab=images

Found this, it restores the weapon to its former self.

I am pretty sure Cat ear is harder to get !! You have to complete the game in professional and GET S plus rank !!

It's way easier, since you can use bonus weapons.
I unlocked the handcannon in 6 hours and something roughly, i'm pretty sure i can do it faster with an unbreakable knife, and a tommy gun and unlimited magnum once i get 30 currency.

they really nerfed the handcannon, the original handcannon was very overpowered in the original re4 release and had infinite ammo, they also made all magnums in the game have a very wide reticle where in the original release every gun had more or less a red dot where ever you pointed the gun at

Brokenbutter fly is also trash, its pretty much a shotgun with no bullet spread, that can fire at a range at times. But only once every couple of seconds. Not worth the ammo, rather use a the first rifle with max damage and the upgrade ticket for the exclusive perk cuz it deals over 30 damage and actually reliable. :^)

Idk why they made the broken butterfly so bad. you already get almost no ammo and crafting 3 mag bullets with 17 gunpowder isnt worth it. Its just better to build shotgun bullets or rifle bullets.

LOL dude... you're supposed to keep whatever Magnum rounds you find for the inconvenient Wolverines or boss fights. It's not supposed to be a one-hit-kill pistol you're casually ventilating every enemy you see with. Get real.

they kinda made all the magnums bad in the remake imo, all except for maybe the killer7 which has the original laser sight attached to it

It had a damage of 99, it also shouldn't be weaker than a regular magnum. As i said, the broken butterfly does more damage. Likely the killer 7 too with the crit upgrade.
They turned the best magnum into the worst magnum, how is that a get real moment?

It has infinite ammo in this game too lol

The wide reticle is a lie, the handcannon is very accurate, but the Killer 7 is like a sniper.

Infinite ammo is an annoying gimmick though, i'd rather take the 99 damage as an exclusive upgrade, but thats just me

Everything except for bosses and those mini-boss enemies die in 1 shot, and if they don't die, they get stun locked until they do.

If you want an instant-kill weapon, just use the Infinite RL.

Where is the fun in that, and using magnum ammo on generic enemies is a huge waste of resources, unless you use the unlimited ammo.

So you want an instant kill weapon, that doesn't have unlimited ammo?

Why not just use the Killer 7?

I don't want an instakill weapon, i just want the handcannon back to its old glory, especially that its a harder unlock now that it was before.

I can understand the balance change of the red9 you get that very early, but they didn't had to butcher the sw500 like that.
I would be happy if it was stronger than the broken butterfly, it doesn't even have to have its old 99 damage, just give it 60 or something.

Yeah but it does less than half of its damage as before, and as i mentioned, if someone doesn't like infinite ammo, than the revolver is just a bad choice to go with, because the other 2 outdamages it.

Compared to the original its a shadow of its former self.
