Sure, MSFS has pretty good visuals, but some people don't want to be blasting their GPU at 99% for hours on end while they shut down the internet for their entire neighborhood trying to stream the exterior model of a 172 at 12 fps.

I purchased MSFS 2020 over a year ago and collected ~300 hours in it. I very much enjoyed it, but then I purchased XP12, and let me tell you, every time I do a flight in this sim, it just gets harder and harder to enjoy a flight in MSFS. Especially as a someone who frequently flies airliners, scenery doesn't really matter much to me, and because of that, literally everything in XP is superior. And yeah maybe MSFS 2024 has improved on some things, but people can barely play it now despite some paying well over 100 dollars for lol.

Does the OP realize that X-Plane while not as pretty is considered to have the more realistic flight model for a consumer flight simulator.

This game does not have online drm? I heard it needs to call home for activation.

In X-Plane 11 (non-Steam) it was just for initial activation. Not sure for the non-Steam version of X-Plane 12.

And I can play the Steam version of X-Plane 12 offline if needed.

MSFS 2024 needs an Internet connection all the time and without it there is might as well be a 'dead Dodo'.

So X-Plane can be used with no Internet while MSFS 2024 cannot.

MSFS is for the look its my house crowd and xplanes is more for those who want to actually fly.

Why would it be freeware?
Just because some other product is considered "superior" by some doesn't mean that this product has no value.

MSFS is a cloud based 3D map viewer with planes. X-Plane is a flight simulator.

Xplane is my new choice for my next sim. Been enjoying the demo so far.
