Why do you feel that achievements are necessary? It's not something I'm personally after when using X-Plane 12. Something I am after for example is hand flying a near perfect non-precision approach in a light twin engine aircraft in IMC conditions. This requires that I stay ahead of the aircraft at all times. It's quite rewarding and fun.

That sounds like a decent feat! But if that same feat was made into an achievement I guess some people would like to be able to have the achievement as proof that they've pulled it off and as a kind of reward in and of itself.

I would like to receive little reward badges that I could print out and wear :)

Personally I find thoughtful badges fun, so things like flight time, number of successful takeoffs/landings, number of times ATC instructions were followed, fuel efficiency, flight plans submitted, etc. would be nice.
