Hey Creature Creators!

A new update is now live with a tonne of new features, fixes and optimizations!

Here is a summary of all the changes:

- Add cross-platform factory (i.e., Steam workshop) support to the main menu
- Add timed mode with online leaderboards
- Add asymmetrical body parts functionality
- Add shine and metallic properties to individual body parts
- Add player world chat side-menu
- Add an experience system (XP level is now prepended to online player names)
- Add zoom in/out and flip buttons
- Add button for hold ability
- Add fire breath keybind
- Add role title during the building phase of Kaiju Hunt
- Add setting to optimize lighting
- Remove cash (unlocks, quests, battles, and mini-games now reward XP instead)
- Remove nudge distance check so that parts can be nudged anywhere within the platform (no need for save/load glitch)

- Optimize UI and the load time for the main menu and game scenes
- Optimize lighting (lights disabled at threshold distance, lights fade in/out when entering/exiting a dark area and maximum light sources per creature (4 for local and 2 for remote creatures))
- Replace “Big Time Spender” achievement with “Experienced Creature”, since cash has been replaced with experience
- Increase min/max camera angle (clamped while editing)
- Increase max warnings for tiered framerate (250 ticks)
- Reset target framerate to 60fps for mobile on startup
- Move arm body parts from Farm to Cave, Sandbox and City to ensure timed mode quests can be completed
- Double health contributed by body weight
- Show minigame pads in singleplayer worlds
- Prepend modded and beta worlds with coloured tags

- Clamp bones to x=0 when dragging to prevent twisted spines
- Fix critical issue that occurred when players disconnected during a minigame
- Fix statistics not updating on load
- Fix world chat throwing errors when disabled
- Fix all issues with Kaiju Hunt and NPC AI
- Prevent damage from being taken and save/load operations while editing
- Fix Minigamer achievement
- Fix legacy progress data migration issue
- Fix "We Are Alike" comparison check
- Fix raft issues
- Check if eye, pattern and platform exists before showing tutorial
- Reset underwater state on death

Hey everyone!

Creature Creator just celebrated its first birthday! 🥳🎉

Over the past year, almost 400,000 players on PC and Mobile have created creatures in 13 languages around the world!

The game has received tonnes of in-game updates, as well as a website, merchandise store, education edition, and animated short film! It has now even evolved into a franchise with 2 new CREATURE games in the works!

I have huge plans for the future! Right now, I am busy working on a massive YouTube video in which I will take you behind the scenes and discuss the development journey so far!

Hey everyone!

For this update, I implemented a better login system with the ability to set a unique username! You can still sign in anonymously like before, but I also added the option to sign in with a cross-platform Unity account. You can access this from the settings menu!

This was mainly added for the new friends system which now allows you to make cross-platform friends!

You can add friends by either sending a request directly using a player's ID (e.g., PlayerName#1234) or by clicking on their username from the in-game networking menu. Once they accept your request, they'll show up in your list of friends!

As friends, you can see each other’s status (i.e., online, busy or invisible) and even quick join when they are in-game. To help distinguish players, your friends will also show up as a different colour. Best of all though, I’ve now added creature stacking! To stack on top of friends, hover over a player’s creature, and scroll up with your mouse wheel to select the saddle icon. You can dismount using Ctrl+Space (or rebind it from the settings menu)!
Additionally, I've fixed a few issues and added some new features like being able to set the spawn point for multiplayer worlds!

Another big release (which probably deserves its own announcement) is the Education Edition of Creature Creator! Similarly to Minecraft and Roblox, Creature Creator now has an educational edition! This version includes everything from the original, but now enables devices on the same local network to connect to one another, and is available for half the original price as a special discount for schools.

Unlock 23 new body parts and patterns, complete 2 new quests, battle against the humans and challenge your friends to the new Kaiju Hunt minigame!

You can unlock the city by travelling through the mineshaft in the Cave, or via the bus stop on Farm!

1. Kaiju Hunt Hunters band together to hunt down the randomly chosen Kaiju before time runs out! It won't be that easy though... hunters are much weaker, and the only attack available to them is Bite (Lvl 1)!
   
2. Body Parts & Patterns Unlock 18 new body parts and 5 new patterns. A new fire-breathing ability has also been added to all the dragon mouths!
   
3. Quests Complete the factory and shopping quests.
   
4. Battle Face off against the humans and their best friends!

Compete against friends in 6 new minigames throughout the world of Creature Creator:

• Build Battle - Given a topic, build a creature and then rate your opponents to determine whose is the best!
• Race - Be the first to complete three laps around the racetrack!
• Soccer - Score the most goals for your team before time runs out.
• Pirate King - Occupy the land near the shipwreck for the longest amount of time.
• Fruit Fight - Collect the most fruit for your team.
• Cave Critters - Kill the most spiders in the given time.

All minigames follow the same structure! Firstly, players join by entering a glowing pad situated near the starting point. They are then introduced to the minigame via a cinematic, in which an electric bounds is defined around the play area. Next, players are given a period of time to create/modify a creature to compete with. A new system has been introduced to be able to temporarily apply restrictions to build mode to make this more interesting! Once ready, players are then teleported to their starting positions, at which point, the minigame will commence!

The world of Creature Creator is evolving!

Explore new areas on the Island and Farm, but watch out for enemies! You’ll now encounter octopuses in the ocean and spiders lurking in the caves of Farm and Cave. These enemies can quickly become overwhelming in hordes though, so make sure to use the new spin attack to deal lots of AOE damage!

On the topic of combat, all the AI has been buffed and improved, and I’ve added some more satisfying damage effects! There are also now multiple battle locations on each map with enemies from that map — instead of the single battle arena on Sandbox! The hunger system has also been reworked so that you only regenerate health if your hunger is fully replenished and you have been out of combat for over 10 seconds!

There have been quite a few changes to mobile as well. Free users will now be able to create online multiplayer worlds (limited to public lobbies with a maximum of 4 players). You will also receive free rewards daily for just logging in! I’ve also reduced the size of banner ads and removed them entirely during cinematics.

Next, I added a highly requested QOL feature to save a copy of your creature if you disconnect unexpectedly!

Finally, lots of bugs have been fixed and I’ve been working on a few performance improvements as well. I’m currently implementing a major optimization to creatures. For those interested it has to do with optimizing the number of draw calls per creature to only be 2, instead of being a factor of the number of body parts and materials per each body part. In short, the creature rendering overhead will go from a time complexity of `O(n^3)` to `O(n)` — which simply put is HUGE! With this change, I’ll be increasing the number of players on a server to 16, but it could definitely handle more!

The minigames and City map updates are coming soon, so stay tuned!
