There's a fair amount of realistic gore depicted in the game (albeit illustrated), though how much you see is going to vary depending on the choices you make. It's possible you'll see very little, and it's possible you'll see quite a bit.
There are also heavy existentialist themes in the story, but the game should still be accessible and enjoyable even if the players don't connect with those themes.
My kids are very into horror games so I think this might eventually be right up their alley.
also has some rather Existential points in it but the game is still funny and user friendly even if you dont particularly connect well with that.
more then that its quite....gruesome...at times but if you are okay with horror movies like scream then you will be more then fine.
