Fallout 4: Creation Kit

Fallout 4: Creation Kit

using creation club for Microsoft store edition of Fallout 4
I wanted to share my experience troubleshooting some frustrating DLL issues I encountered while trying to get Fallout 4 running smoothly after purchasing it on the Microsoft Store. I initially owned Fallout 4 through the Microsoft Store, which caused compatibility issues when trying to use certain mods and tools that require Steam.
I attempted to manually place necessary files into the Fallout 4 game folder, but it didn’t work as expected. I then ran into a problem with a missing steam_api64.dll file, which is essential for Steam-related functionality. After some searching, I ended up downloading the steam_api64.dll from a random website. I know it sounds shady, and I was hesitant, but it was my last resort. Fortunately, it worked!
After placing the downloaded DLL in the right folder, the game finally worked! However, I felt incredibly stressed after jumping through so many hoops to get there.
If you’re using the Microsoft Store version of Fallout 4 and want to use Steam-related mods or tools, be aware of potential compatibility issues. Be cautious when downloading DLL files from unofficial sources; it can be risky. If you continue having issues, consider uninstalling the game and reinstalling it through Steam for a cleaner integration.
