To be fair, most probably only started the series with AoE 4 and don't know better.

Yes there's both unranked and ranked, usually it takes about 3 min to find a match at least from north italy server. Dunno at all for other regions.

Yeah, there is both ranked and unranked; matchmaking is quite fast for 1v1, usually a minute, while for 2v2 and 3v3 you have to wait about 3 minutes. The game is not an expansion but new civs are coming, among which chinese. I really recommend it, its a lot of fun!
