Yes! After I complete a mission and return to the garage or die and reload a checkpoint my audio dims. Switching audio inputs then switching back to my speakers or just using my headset seems to fix it. It's only dimming my AC6 audio, everything else is fine. Kind of annoying!

I am having this issue too. It is driving me crazy.
it muffles when i reload too at check point, the audio restored after alt tabbing several times
It seems like the game is switching between Spatial Sound Options or other sound Outputs if available after every loading screen. In order to get the sound back, you would have to disable other audio outputs, and turn on/off Spatial Sound back to your default option almost every loading screen.
I have the same issue on steam deck I have no clue what to do...
Having the same issue. Hopefully there will be a fix soon...

Has anyone found a fix for this yet by chance? My audio is now consistently muffled every time I progress past the title screen and I am at a complete loss as to how to fix it. I've tried everything I can think of and my only option at this point seems to be to play basically without sound.

Yeah I have the same issue. It feels not like the audio is low, but rather muffled and "improperly mixed". The in-game options are fairly limited in attempting to solve this, and messing with OS settings didn't do anything either, so I assume it's either like this by design, or is messed up somehow and we should expect a fix...

I suspect that there’s something wrong with the audio mix, and it might depend on what kind of output you are using (stereo, multichannel, usb, optical, etc). To put a word to it, the mix sounds heavily compressed. Like what an iTunes mp3 from 2004 would sound like vs any modern format.

I have to crank my system to what would normally be ear-bleeding levels. I have a 2.1 system fed via a usb dac -> preamp -> monoblock power amps. I’m honestly scared that ‘normalized audio’ will just kick in and I’ll damage my hearing.

I wish I had the ps5 version to see if this is a platform dependent problem.

I have the same problem, dialogue is not appearing either.

Edit: it only seems to be this way on headphones, which is odd. Audio is fine when not playing through headphones.

I have the PS5 version and I'm getting the same problems. The audio is weird and the mechs feel like they're so light and don't make any sound when they move.

It sounds like my mech is consistently walking on a sea of pillows. The impact a multi ton machine makes as its leg slams the ground is almost non existent.

I've played this game in 2.0 and 7.1 and it pretty much sounds the exact same asides from directional cues.

Using Embody Immerse Hive, with it's closest setting, the footsteps sound a bit chunkier. But the games mix is definitely not well done

Whenever my mech moves it sounds powerful as heck. I do have several subwoofers with aggressive low hz tuning, though.

Yea, a bit of low and mid bass boosting helps dramatically. I wish I could let all my neighbors know I'm piloting a 40 ton death machine with that setup 😂
I'm having to swap my audio output source between almost every mission to get my normal, un-muffled sound back. It's pretty annoying. But for anyone who thinks that it's just supposed to sound super far away or under water, try alt-tabbing and switching your system audio output and then switching it back.
