1) Does the game support 'legitimate' online multiplayer? By 'legitimate' online player, I mean an online session where players can use their own keyboard and mouse, and not something like steam's Remote Play Together service where you are actually playing local multiplayer but 'online'. If the game does not have legitimate online multiplayer at the moment, are there any plans to add one in the future?
A: Yes! We have full 'legitimate' online support, you can also use Remote Play, but the best experience is using the online multiplayer.
2) Are there any differences between local and online multiplayer besides the ability for players to each use their own keyboard and mouse? An example of such difference would be something like a shared local screen for local multiplayer but separate cameras/screens for each player for online multiplayer.
A: Yes there are some differences. Online players get their own camera (they do not share a screen) and so can more easily walk away from each other and explore the world separately if they so choose. Workshops also allow online players to build separate contraptions in the same workshop at the same time.
3) Does the game support combo multiplayer? By combo multiplayer, I'm referring to the mix of local and online multiplayer. For example, a 4-player online multiplayer session where 2 players are joining as local multiplayer and the other two are joining as separate players each with their own copy of the game.
A: Yes you can mix and match up to 4 local and online players at the same time.
4) Does the game support online matching through codes or lobbies to play with players other than just your friends?
A: Unfortunately there are no lobbies, you can only connect with friends on your Steam profile.
That perfectly clears up all my questions, thank you very much! I intend to try out both local and online multiplayer session in the near future, so I'll be back with some feedback if possible :) Hope you all have a lovely week and holiday!
