I personally find it very frustrating to be forced to play a different style of game just because my ranking has increased. I'd much rather continue to run 1v1s in a 3 stock, same character format. The same format that you play all the way through gold rankings. I intentionally bought a character after grinding the hero coins, just to be forced to play heroes that I don't enjoy. It's a crap way of forcing people to play other champs....
