Play style question

I love the regular game for its survival aspect and just the ability to build..... Can i just focus on survival on the vr version as well and not worry about the story at all?

Yes, you can play survival mode .. however the story is great and you'd be missing out on that

I've literally never played the story passed like 2 hours and only play Survival on Green Hell difficulty. Got plenty of hours out of it and still play.
