I'm unable to go past the first planet due to the massive spike in enemy difficulty, my heavy fighters and combat frigate get wiped by a single group of enemy fighters. Something needs to be done about the enemy difficulty and the penalty to rewards in spots where you are too high of rank....

I really feel like instead of CP and a universal ship cap you should lock it by size. I'd rather have a few more fighters in the early game and not get a frigate until level 3 or 4. If each size of ship had its own cap it would feel better to me. Or maybe a system where you use ship cap for each size and CP, so you can field a squadron of 12 fighters at the expense of not having any destroyers?...

I can't seem to keep my Griffon allies alive on a consistent basis, even in sectors where my corp. level is "too high" and I'm getting reduced rewards. They're equipped with the best offensive weapons they can hold but it doesn't seem to help that much. I think they get melted by missiles. It's great that we can research, buy, and install new weapons for ships. But I'd really like to be able to research, buy, and install defensive components as well. Armor, shields, auto-repair nanobots, etc. Even if that...

Is there a reason to take the cannon over the railgun? Eyeballing it it seems that the cannon might have better dps against lighter targets? At closer ranges obviously since it's only around 2/3 the railgun range.
